So you are in the market for a new soundcard, but you’re just not too sure where to start. I would suggest that this quick overview of the top five soundcards is a good place to start.
The PC expansion sound card market has been gradually decreasing due to a larger number of consumers who are willing to accept the quality of audio produced by integrated audio solutions. Even with this, there are a number of audiophiles who demand more and are willing to purchase PC audio cards. Here are my selections for the best PC Sound Cards based upon my research and experience.
1) Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro
Many people may dislike Creative, but they are still a leader when it comes to PC audio card development. The Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro is their latest and greatest card. Previous Audigy cards were praised for its surround sound ability and DVD audio, but the same could not always be said for its CD audio quality. To respone to this, Creative developed the Audigy 4 Pro that addresses these issues. The card also includes breakout interface boxes and a media remote control.
2) Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
The Audigy 2 ZS Platinum actually comes in two editions. The standard Platinum model features an I/O module that fits into an internal drive bay of the computer. The Platinum Pro instead uses an external I/O module that connects to the audio card. Both have the same features and specifications and also include a media center remote and application software. It also features support for the EAX 4.0 Advanced HD for enhanced audio experience.
