OK, this has to be taken right out of the page from the Twilight Zone book or something equally nuts. Today at ExtremeTech, they have given their readers a chance to gaze upon something of true beauty. Enter the PC motorcycle!
When I last worked on the wheels, they were recovering from surgery from when I attempted to fix the various holes I had accidentally created while trying to make a circuit-board effect in the rims. I finished sanding (and using primer) to fix the holes in the wheels. I still had a few uneven spots in the center, but it was good enough considering the majority of the space would be covered with the circuit boards I cut last time.
Next I started painting the wheels (specifically, the rims in the center of the wheels) copper. After the paint dried, I used Testor’s clear glosscote to seal the color in and protect it (luckily the copper maintained a reasonably shiny color even after the glosscote was applied). I let it sit for a few days then tested using masking tape on it to make sure that the tape wouldn’t lift up the glosscote or the paint, but it did. Fortunately, I found a clear coat that worked well on the parts and didn’t peel off with masking tape. After re-painting the wheels with the new clearcoat, I proceeded to cover the rims carefully with masking tape.
