Prodisc secures certification for 16x DVD+R/-R discs

Yet another optical disc manufacturer has obtained a certification for their media. Unlike others that you might see in the news, Prodisc Technology has just been approved for their 16x DVD+R/-R discs.

One cert was obtained via Pioneer and the other through A Grade Lab certification. While Pioneer gave the company their 16x certification, A Grade Lab gave them their certification for their 8x discs.

Prodisc Technology, the third-largest producer of optical discs in Taiwan, on December 10 announced that it has obtained certification for its 16x DVD+R/-R discs from Pioneer and A Grade Lab certification for its 8x DVD-R discs from the DVD Forum.

Prodisc claimed that it is the first Taiwan company to obtain the certifications, which are expected to help the firm compete for OEM orders, the company added.

According to local makers of optical discs, OEM prices stand at about US$0.35 for 8x DVD-R discs and about US$0.45 for 16x DVD-R discs.
