This ought to make those who are cheering on Blue-ray really happy. According to a report from socalTECH, Disney has decided that they are not only supportive of the Blu-ray format - they are going to release Disney content for Blu-ray as well.
Man, I have to tell ya folks. This competition between HD-DVD and Blu-ray is really beginning to heat up! At first the interest was little more than a passing fancy. But over the past few weeks, I can not get enough of this little standards war!
Burbank-based Walt Disney Company has put its backing behind the emerging Blu-ray Disc format, saying that it will release content in Blue-ray format in North America and Japan. The move heats up the competition between rival format HD-DVD and Blu-ray, both of which are seeking to become the standard for next generation digital video. Rival format HD-DVD just announced that Paramount, Universal, and New Line Cinema would support its format; this announcement adds another backer to Blu-ray, which includes Dell, Hitachi, HP, Sharp, Sony, and Twentieth Century Fox.
