OEM prices for 16x DVD burners rapidly decreasing, more price cuts to come

It was bound to happen. It is about that time of year that we see hardware prices start coming down a bit. It would appear that DVD burners are no exception to this rule either.

According to CDFreaks.com, Taiwanese manufacturers are beginning the price descent of their 16x DVD Burners. I also expect to see other manufacturers from other regions begin to follow the same path in the coming months. After all, they have to remain competitive. :o)

GristyMcFisty used our news submit to tell us that Taiwanese manufacturers are lowering the prices of 16x DVD burners. Also the Hitachi-LG joint venture will lower prices for its 16x Super Multi DVD Burners.

The price decrease is caused by an increased competition to get OEM orders from large computer builders such as Dell and HP. According to Digitimes the prices can even drop further next quarter as 16x DVD burners are becoming widely available and mainstream and production costs are also decreasing.
