Mac users are getting all sorts of cool hardware this year! MacCentral reports that MacWireless is offering both a wireless USB interface and wired broadband router for consumer use.
The router did little to really impress me, but I thought the USB interface was certainly worth some more investigation. Sure, I have no Mac to call my own, but if they keep coming out with devices like they have been lately, I might have to remedy that.
Mac networking hardware maker MacWireless on Wednesday introduced a wireless USB interface it calls the USB Stick and, in something of a departure for the company, a wired broadband router. Both are available now.
The 11b USB Stick looks like a USB thumbdrive. It attaches to an available USB port of a Mac and includes a 7.5-inch “flex” extension cable that’s stiff but bendable — you can raise the USB Stick on the end of the cable to help get the best reception. The USB Stick is IEEE 802.11b-compliant and supports 64-bit and 128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption. The USB Stick costs US$79.98, and requires Mac OS X 9.0.4 through Mac OS X v10.3.5 (excluding Mac OS X v10.1).
