That is what we are missing from our mobile phones! Hard drives! Yes, that will change everything! Wait, why and what and not to mention , huh? Well according to Brighthand, Nokia is considering playing catch up with Samsung who has recently released a new mobile that uses a tiny hard drive.
As wild as this sounds, this makes sense as new technologies continue to grace our presence. I found it interesting that Samsung beat Nokia to the punch though it has not actually been released to the public.
Portable music players like Apple’s iPod are very popular right now. Smartphone makers are trying to get a cut of this market by adding MP3 players to their devices. However, they are hampered by the fact that smartphones have much lower storage capacities.
Devices like the iPod have a tiny hard drive inside of them, while smartphones depend entirely on memory chips. However, this won’t be true for much longer.
In September, Samsung announced the SPH-V5400, the first smartphone with a built-in hard drive. Now, Nokia says it’s going to be making its own devices with hard drives, according to MobileBurn.
The Samsung device will be available only in South Korea, and the hard drive can only hold 1.5 GB of data. When Nokia’s smartphones with hard drives hit the market in 2005 and 2006, they will be much more widely available. However, it is not known at this point what storage capacity they will have.
