The next small thing

Purse-sized computers. The next bug, uh, small thing? Hint: the smaller they get, the more expensive they become. I wonder if I can get a free refrigerator-sized pc?
Portable media players built around Microsoft’s Portable Media Center software figure to garner most of the excitement this fall, but they’re by no means the only multipurpose, purse-size media-ready PCs around.
Earlier this summer, Sony rolled out a new 1.2-lb VAIO. Unlike Portable Media Centers, the Vaio U70 is a full-blown Celeron-M 900-MHz PC (foldable keyboard included, but not part of the device). It has a bright 5″ by 4″ screen, costs $1,800 and is not yet available in the US. A $2,500 1.5-GHz Pentium M version is also available.
Tell me you don’t salivate when you see this.
