Maxtor and Hitachi recently released new hard drives that make advances on the performance and storage capacity of current drives.
The Hitachi-made DeskStar 7K400 has a storage capacity of 400 gigabyte and is available with UltraATA/100 and SATA150 interfaces. The Maxtor MaXLine III is available in 250 and 300 GB capacities, but MaXLine IIIs unique feature is its native Serial ATA interface, which can also handle Command Queuing. Apart from the Barracuda 7200.7, it is now just the second drive offering this feature.
Tom’s Hardware Guide did a great review on both of these leading edge drives including images and performance reviews. You can find the review here
