Pricing of Low-Latency DDR400 Memory

If you remember my previous posts about the low-latency modules, you should have noticed that I wasn’t too keen on the ridiculously high prices of the modules. That being said, high prices are nothing new in the hardware industry.

After comparing the Memory prices from OCZ, Kingston, Corsair, and Crucial; I believe that OCZ gives you the best value overall. Corsair and others are excellent contenders and the performance is about the same, however, OCZ’s Memory tends to overclock much better than others, according to a recent review by AnandTech.

After talking to some industry sources and some memory manufacturers, it doesn’t look like the prices are going to come down for a while. I predicted that as more memory manufacturers entered the market, the prices would fall, however, it’s not the case anymore. The competition doesn’t have much impact on the pricing.

As I get more information about the prices from our sources, I will keep you guys updated.
