Game Review: Finger Football for the iPhone/iPod Touch

Finger Football is a freeware game for the iPhone and iPod Touch,  there is a premium version that you can buy from within the program itself but this review will focus on the free version.  It is exactly what it sounds like, it is the old game of paper football that people are already very familiar with.  The graphics are very simple, a football field with a large depiction of a football in the center.  You try to score by pushing the football into the opposing teams end-zone.  As long as part of the football is inside of the end-zone you get a touchdown, push it too hard and it goes out of the end-zone and falls off the table, push it too softly and the opposing player gets to have a go at your end-zone from where the football stopped.  The hardest thing about the gameplay is trying to make the extra point attempts which can, at times, be maddening because half the time it looks like the football has gone through the uprights and then you find out that your extra point try was no good.  The computer opponent is good for about 20 points a game, sometimes a little higher but most people will be able to beat that handily.  Once you figure out how hard you need to push the ball, you will find yourself scoring on every play quite easily.  In fact, the high score list for the game has a large number of players with over 400 points in a game.  that is impressive considering that this game actually has timed quarters - 30 seconds for each quarter.  In my first game I was able to put up 93 points, which might indicate that this game is a little on the easy side.  There is a multiplayer mode where two people can play on the same device which is probably going to be a lot more entertaining than playing against the computer.  This is a great game if you just want to waste a couple of minutes and you can’t beat the price.  It is available on the iTunes store.
