Tuning Your Guitar The Right Way!

Hi there, in this post I am going to teach you how to tune your guitar by using harmonics. First of all, I would like to tell you that I have been playing classical guitar for a bit over 11 years, since I was about 4.5 years old. Using this method you are going to have to match pitches, so you need to have a good ear for it. After a while you should become accustomed to matching the harmonic and string.

To start off you need to tune your A string.

To tune your low E string, you hit the 5th fret harmonic on the low E followed by the 7th harmonic of the A string. Match these pitches.

To tune your D string, you hit the 5th fret harmonic on the A string followed by the 7th harmonic of the D string. Match these pitches.

To tune your G string, you hit the 5th fret harmonic on the D string followed by the 7th harmonic of the G string. Match these pitches.

Now it gets switched up for the B and high E string. To tune the B string, you hit the 7th fret harmonic on the low E string and open B, match these pitches. For high E you do the same but with the 7th fret A harmonic.

This is the only way I tune my guitars, both classical and electric.

I really like these posts, if you had like a little instructional video that would be awesome. cool stuff, I try to play a few instruments, haven’t gotten really serious about anything, but I have a little guitar, and thanks for the pointers.
