Windows 7 Gets Six Versions - Which is Best for You?

This isn’t as hard as you might think.
Microsoft has revealed the Windows 7 will ship in 6 different versions…
- Starter
- Home Basic
- Home Premium
- Professional
- Enterprise
- Ultimate
People are already complaining, but this selection isn’t that bad once you take a few things into consideration. Both Starter and Home Basic editions will not be available for purchase. These two editions will ship with OEM computers instead. Enterprise edition is for business’s planning on using 200 copies. Again, not for your average user.
This leaves Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. Microsoft hasn’t revealed the exact details describing what is available in each edition yet. If they base the versions off of Vista, Ultimate won’t be worth it unless you REALLY want a Poker game again. So this leaves just Home Premium & Professional. Not that bad right?
Compare that to the 8,000 different versions of Linux floating around.

Why are you comparing windows to Linux???
1) Linux out does windows in any area.
2) I do not not have to refinance my house to get Linux, it is FREE
3) Each distro is designed with for specific needs, unlike windows one size fits all & you have no choice except to knell in front of the Bill Gates & hos MS cronies.

The last line was really unnecessary for so many reasons i can’t even begin to explain…
As for Windows 7 i will most likely be getting the Professional version -if this is what i imagine it will be- cause since it will be running as my secondary OS there is no really a need for me to go Ultimate with that one
I’m a bit worried on how the OS will be like on its release date, but if it is half as decent and stable as i imagine it to be then all of the tech community will be smiling again
Nice read and thx for the info

your right. the extras in vista ultimate can be found for free. there is even a installer for the files to run vista’s dreamscenes on windows 7. i have used it, and it works great. all you gave to do is install it go to the video you want as your background right click and set as desktop background.

I think that if Ultimate is based on the Vista Editions then it would be the one that had Media Center capabilities and that is the one that I wold want to get.

I think Home Premium will be the best for most users, including myself.
