The PS3 Has Way Too Many Updates

This is getting really old, really fast. It feels like every time I try to fire up the PS3, there’s an update that needs to be installed. Oh goody, instead of being able to have fun, and just play online for a little bit, I have to wait half an hour for some new feature I’m never gonna use to download and install. This time I got to wait as a brand new “Photo Viewer Feature” was installed.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t really use my PS3 to look at photos. I use it to game. And I would like just be able to go online and play something, or start downloading a demo. A few people argued that the PS3 is forcing their way into the news with these updates, since almost every game & tech blog will make a post about the update, and what’s new. If the thing took 30 seconds, it wouldn’t be a real issue, but it feels like the entire firmware has to be re-downloaded every single time.
I’ve had some days where I said screw it, and went onto Xbox LIVE instead. Great strategy SONY, make us wait in front of another loading screen at every chance you can.

Just disconnect the damn thing from the internet….
you can use new games like SR 2 without updating online. FW will be updated off the disk. Faster than via the net.
Games that require fw featurs not present in the orignial fw have those updates on the disk
I’m so fed up with products that need constant attention!!!
sony and MS and Nokia are paying programmers…why should we beta-test their rushed products?
It’s l a bit nut.
The other day I nearly paid 15 bucks for a ppc program, and last-second I see the thing’s still in beta!!! But they want 15 bucks! For a phone program in beta!!!
There are now cars that require regular software updates??!!! WTF?
NO, NO, NO…

I personally like the updates to see what new things sony is going to give me now. consider yourself lucky if that’s all you have to complain about…

Its bullsh#$ having to download all these updates. I recently had to download an update for socom that took nearly 4 hours to install I looked at what it did and it was so I could import my photos. Stupid. I am a gamer not a photographer!

hey th ps3 does not have the best network or the best commuaty. the xbox beats in this. but the only thing keeping the ps3 alive is the blue-ray player. my brother has a ps3 just for the blue-ray and the internet. i think the xbox 360 is better.
