Windows 7 Public Beta Direct Download Links

I’ve found a couple of working links to download Windows 7. You still need to get the key, but I believe you can still use Windows 7 for 30 days without them.

(x86)
 http://download.microsoft.com/download/6…

(x64)

Many users are reporting that the links work in some browsers, while others don’t. They worked for me in Safari, but not Chrome.

Leave a comment saying it they worked or not. Right now I have x86 downloading, so it should still be good.

x86 coming down fast for me with firefox…

why didn’t they use bit torrent again? :)

thanks for the links!

I think this has been Microsoft’s worst public beta launch yet. I spent 2.5 hours trying to get through the process of getting a Windows 7 Key, and in the end the servers couldn’t handle it so they just shut it all down and replaced it with a note saying Coming soon. In fact even people that had been downloading it through the public beta link had their downloads killed.

It is working for me… finally.

Thanks for the links, looks like they are currently working on the download pages. At least the files are ready.

yep, awesome thanks for the direct links.

I used the x64 link and its downloading. How do I get the key when it’s done?

Yeah dudes, it worked, i’m downloading the x86 version, from IceWeasel+DownThemAll.
Thanks a lot

So what’s up with the forced absolute-positioned ad right on top of the comments here? There’s no x to close it. Alli (the ad) is not special enough to force itself where it doesn’t belong. I have completely lost respect for this site.

I spent over a half a day trying to download Windows 7 Beta. My DL got up to 98% completed and MS pulled the plug on it. Makes me want to buy a Mac. After The Vista fiasco one would think that MS has their act together, obviously not. If not for your site I would not even have it. Windows 7 better be a far cry better than Vista or a mad consumer is going to start an email campaign. This is pure BS!

Worked fine for me in Australia. I have downloaded the x86 version using Firefox.

[...] … Chris Pirillo posted about the fail and posted a link for the direct download of the beta  http://www.lockergnome.com/griffin/2009/01/09/windows-7-public-beta-direct-download-links/ . Thanks Chris, but what we really want is an official release with the key that’s good thru [...]

downloading x86 with firefox 3.0.5, worked fine. took about 3 hours.

Yeah it works for me used firefox with ubuntu. Any idea where to get the activation code?

Using Opera Browser and download link x86 is still working. Thanks for you help.

The download is working for me in Firefox 3.05. Downloading at 2.1 mb/sec. not to bad. :)

Chrome didn’t even start the download.

D/L the x86 version with IE8 Beta.

Thanks - downloading x86 with Safari now. All, get your key at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx , just choose to download the correct version, log in using Windows Live ID, register, and your key will be displayed to you

Worked fine with aria2c in CentOS. After finished download, will be put into a virtual for testing
