Windows 7 Beta Launch – So Far, Full of Fail
Downloading the Windows 7 BETA is proving to be just a BIT more difficult than I originally thought it would be. Ever since early this morning, the servers powering the BETA download pages have been completely down. Very few people have been able to actually get their hands on the disc image, and even fewer can’t get their hand on Keys.
I was able to get a download started, but as it was hitting 22% completed, it failed. I was greeted with “The size of the file you are downloading has changed.” Nice Microsoft. Did you decide to update something or change the file while everyone was downloading?
Even finding the page to download it is a nightmare. None of the sites seem too reference where to go to get your links, and only today did they decide to announce what the BETA would be put online.
Everything seems to be hosted on the same server, registration, keys, and the download files. Because of this, if one link goes down, they all go down.
If you try to go to the download page now, your greeted with this message.
Windows® 7 Beta coming soon!
This is a great way to launch something, especially after your last product went down in flames.
Has anyone managed to download the BETA through Microsoft? (That isn’t a paid subscriber, and didn’t use torrents?)

I am downloading both 32-bit and 64-bit, but I haven’t got my hands on a key. If it were me I’d smack the head of who’s in charge of the launch of W7.

It’s like Microsoft just doesn’t get it. This company seems like it wants to fail, because it is certainly setting itself up for that outcome. Hopefully, W7 will will prove to be worth the hassle. Funny, I just bought laptop with Vista today, and now 7 is coming out! I have always been a bit behind.
