Checking out the new MacBooks, God I Love Them!

While closely following Engadget.com’s live blog, I decided I HAD to check them out. They looked great in all the pictures, but I wanted to see them in person. And I am completely blown away! Even the lower end MacBooks look great! All of the pictures don’t do these guys justice.

The black border around the screen is very nice, and really not that big as many people seem to make it be. It’s only about half an inch each side, but it doesn’t take anything away from the experience. They do look like slightler bigger versions of the MacBook AIR.

The black keyboard is also a good improvement over the old PRo keyboards. While it does seem a it… awkward visually… it fells really nice and easy to get around.

As for the new 3 and 4 button track pad, I can’t get use to it yet. I’ve only played with it for 30 minutes, but it will definitely take some work to get use to it. One finger moves the mouse, two scrolls pages, three navigates (forward and back in the browser, next picture in the gallery), and four lets you switch between windows. Some directions open up the switch task bar thing, others tile them together, or takes you back to the desktop.

HOWEVER! The trackpad doesn’t seem like its glass. It’s just a soft plastic really. That’s not how it was presented if I recall correctly. I asked a worker here at the store, and he does say it is glass, but not like that on the iPhone or Touch. Doesn’t look like it would shatter like post people thought it would. Interesting… It definitely is a different material then the rest of the case, and the screen.

(I’m typing this at the Apple store, by the way, and I love it! The ‘gangster’ 12 year old boys that just showed up right next to me and are taking ‘Action Shots,’ however, I do not.)

Before the newer models came out, I wanted to get a MacBook Pro mostly because it looked a lot better. I was not a fan at all for the original design of the MacBooks. The plastic looked cheep, and no where near as nice of the MacBook Pros. The newer line however look like Mini-Me’s of the Pro models! I’m so glad I waited for these to come out.

(There are a TON of freaking kids checking these out right now! Was it this way when the others came out, or are these striking interest with younger groups now!?)
