Chris Pirillo will be on Television tonight, along with the chat!

UPDATE: The interview went smoothly/ Apparently Chris was being interviewed about lifecasting, and what it takes to be good. You can see the final product in a couple of weeks.

-ORIGINAL POST-
Well… internet television anyway…

Chris is going to be on Revision3, a “San Francisco based Internet television network that creates, produces and distributes high-quality video shows on niche topics. The shows are distributed directly through its website and a wide range of platforms, including Apple iTunes, BitTorrent, DivX, YouTube, and PyroTV in a numerous amount of formats, including Flash and H.264.

The company name refers to the evolution of video programming, according to Jay Adelson and David Prager, starting with standard broadcast television as ground 0. The first revision was Cable, adding general interest channels, catering to “most common denominator”. The second revision was PC-based Internet video, indy films, no business model, no loyalty, no audience. The third revision or Revision3 is TV and Internet converge. iPods, TiVo, mobile, broadband enable mass, loyal audience to shift to on-demand, niche content.” (WikiPedia)

Chris hasn’t given us much detail. All we know right now is that tonight a “new show will be airing, and if its goes over well, Chris will become a regular guest appearing on the show” to…. do something. Along with Chris, joining the show will be non other than… us! Apparently Chris is planning on taking the chat room with him onto the show, where we can comment and help out! This should prove to be great fun, since this is our chance to be on television. The event starts shortly “we got little notice” so make sure your there tonight!!

MacBook Tablet hits Shelves this Month by 3rd Party Company

Axiotron Inc, managed to steal the show at the 2007 Macworld Conference & Expo when they unveiled their upcoming modified MacBook Pro. Axiotron announced that they were developing a Tablet version of the MacBook Pro, which was scheduled to go on sale in March 2007. March came and went, and nothing was released, due to a shortage of crucial parts needed to make the tablet. On January 01, 2008, the ModBook, as it’s titled, was finally released for purchase.

Ranging in price between $2,279.00 to $2,479.00 (depending if you get a 2.0 GHz or a 2.2 GHz Dual Core) the ModBook comes with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, a hard drive ranging from 80 gigs to 320 gigs, depending on how much you want to spend, and 2 gigs of RAM. The tablet also comes with a remote and has a built in iSight camera and CD/DVD-Combo Drive.

The Tablet has just begun to ship, and the first orders are expected to arrive in about a week. Axiotron Inc, has stated they are completely swamped with orders, and its going to take them months to catch up with the demand. If you got $2,000 lying around, why not order yourself one for fun? Personally, I like the Tablet a lot beter than the MacBook Air.

Rumor: Microsoft Planning on Buying Logitech

According to InformationWeek.com, rumors have begun to circulate that Microsoft may be planning to place a takeover bid on Logitech. This rumor is currently only fueled however by the fact that as the ‘news’ spread, Logitech’s market share jumped a whopping 12% in one day.

When asked about the possibility of a takeover, board member Daniel Borel, the groups largest shareholder, stated that he had no intention on selling his stock to Microsoft any time in the near future. He then went on to state however that he only owns 6% of the stock, which means he doesn’t have the power to enable, nor prevent the sale.

Microsoft is currently the leader in software development, and the gain of Logitech would also make them the leaders in mice and other hardware devices.

Some market players however feel the rumor is just that, a rumor. They feel all the rise is a rebound from the physical year. This year Logitech suffered a 20% loss, and with the end of the term coming, these numbers may just be the market recovering.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Microsoft should acquire Logitech? Or do you think they should remain separate in order to eliminate a possibility of a computer monopoly developing? Leave your comments!

Running Windows XP on a PlayStation 3

Yes, you read that correctly, it is possible to run Windows XP on a PlayStation 3! Don’t get your hopes up though, it’s not as great as it sounds. (More on that at the end of the article) SONY has done the impossible, and is allowing users to run their own systems on their hardware, which is ironic considering how far they’re going to keep the PSP technology locked up. Over in the Settings menu there is an option to partition the hard drive so it can boot into a separate OS.

SONY however only officially supports Yellow-Dog LINUX, an open source operating system combining both GUI and command prompt (for those unfamiliar with LINUX). If you are unfamiliar with LINUX, you’re NOT going to want to try this.

LINUX is currently the only OS to properly work on the PS3, but thanks to a brilliant hacker, you can now use QEMU, an emulation environment, to run Windows XP inside of LINUX, just like you would run Windows inside a Mac.

Don’t get excited though. As shown in the video at the end of this post, Windows takes a very painful amount of time to boot up. You’re running 3 OSs at the same time after all (LINUX, QEMU and Windows), so performance is going to take a hit. Hard.

As for running any PC games on the PS3, don’t hold your breath. Most games require Direct X to run, and the PS3 doesn’t support it. The system would have to be complexly emulated, which, at this point, would flat out kill the system.

So why are people wanting to get Windows XP onto their PS3? Because they can. As for functionality, it’s minimal at the least. Games currently can’t run because the hardware they require simply aren’t there, and they are yet to be emulated. At this point, all that’s been proven is that it can be done. AS for what use the OSs will have on the PS3, only time will tell.
