A lot of people think that once you get a Mac, you never have to worry about getting another virus. This, of course, is complete crap. While a lot of viruses made for a Windows machine can get won’t affect a Mac machine, Macs have their own line of viruses and malware they have to keep their eye on.
Today (Wednesday), a new Trojan called the OSX.RSPlug.A presents itself as a codec update that, once installed, will let you watch some porn video you can’t get to work. The Trojan has to be manually installed by downloading it and then launching it. Once it’s in, getting it out can be extremely difficult. The Trojan will steal your traffic and redirect you to phishing sites and advertisements for other porn sites.
Common sense should be the first tool when defending against this threat however. There are millions of porn sites out there that allow you to watch dirty content without installing anything at all. So why go through with the risk?
Macs have their own share of the threat, so don’t go thinking you’re completely safe just because you got a Mac. ‘Cause you’re not.
