Leopard Sells Like Hotcakes

Briefly:
It’s unbelievable, Apple has just unveiled that Leopard since Friday has sold over 2 million copies, that’s in 3 and a quarter days. This is the fastest Apple has ever sold in operating systems. With this great news I think Apple will gain significant market share.

Considering Apple has about 24,000,000 users, compared to Windows which is up in the hundreds of millions. Apple sold 2 million copies of Leopard so far, Vista in 3 days sold about 2.14 million copies.

here’s the article below:

Since releasing Mac OS X Leopard on Friday, Apple sold (or delivered, in the case of maintenance agreements) more than 2 million copies of the sixth major release of Mac OS X, far outpacing the first weekend sales of Mac OS X Tiger, which was previously the most successful OS release in Apple’s history. “Early indications are that Leopard will be a huge hit with customers,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Leopard’s innovative features are getting great reviews and making more people than ever think about switching to the Mac.” [Oct 30, 2007]

Mac OS X 10.5: The Updates begin

I was browsing through the web on the 27th of October, when suddenly the built-in Updater on my Mac popped up. It said that there was an update to the Keychain program(used to store passwords and other information). A thought occurred to me, OS X came out the day before, and yet there is already an update out.

Now some people may not like this. There might be individuals that like getting updates every few years, like the windows side with Service Packs. I on the other hand love getting updates as much as possible, and that’s what Apple does. Although not as fast as the linux community, Apple normally has an update every few weeks. So while the Windows side has to wait for a service pack like SP1 for Vista, Apple sends out minor updates frequently. I just wish Microsoft would design a better and faster update model than the Service Packs. Knowing Apple, OS X 10.5.1 will probably be out in a month or two, while SP1 for Vista will still be in Beta.
