Wii Will Rock You!
Harmonix, the leading developer of music-based games, and MTV Games, a division of MTV Networks, which is a division of Viacom, along with distribution partner Electronic Arts, Inc., today announced plans to release the award-winning music video game Rock Band on the Wii home video game system from Nintendo in the U.S. and Canada on June 22, 2008 for the suggested retail price of $169.99.
Rock Band for Wii will be released as a Special Edition bundle including the software, drums, microphone and a wireless guitar. Stand alone instruments will also be available on June 22nd for people who want to build their band one instrument at a time or want to play the drum versus drum game mode. The game will feature 63 songs including five bonus songs for Wii gamers to enjoy.
“The Wii’s success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in Rock Band,” says Bob Picunko, Vice President of Electronic Games and Interactive Products, MTV.
“The social interaction and addictive nature of the Rock Band experience is a perfect fit for the Wii and will undoubtedly be fun for the entire family,” says Steve Singer, licensing VP from Nintendo.

5 Guitar Hero Tips
Hi Chris this is VistaUserButRegretsIt from the chat room. I have a top five tip list for Guitar Hero.
- Learn to alt-strum. What that means is strumming up and down. Some people have a problem with fast passages in songs and they say they can’t get past them because they can’t strum up and down. Alt-strumming is very important. Especially on songs like Through The Fire And Flames
- Adjust the strap. Whenever I’m playing Guitar Hero with my cousin he always complains because I keep adjusting my strap. I do this because different songs, for me at least, require different strap heights. A low strap is for songs with difficult fretwork because it straightens out your arm so you can move it more fluidly; a high strap is for songs with fast strumming passages because if the strap is too low you will have a hard time strumming fast and in the middle is for a song with both like Through The Fire And Flames.
- Go Wired. Get a wired Guitar Hero controller when you get Guitar Hero. They are more reliable when it comes to the fret buttons working. I bought a Guitar Hero 2 bundle for my birthday back in October that had the wired X-plorer controller in it and for Christmas I bought Guitar Hero 3 with the wireless Les Paul and I like the X-plorer way better. Until the wireless Les Paul is fixed and has working, reliable fret buttons you can count on, stick with the X-plorer.
- Stand up when you play. I know this seems like a no-brainer, but I see a lot of people sit down when they play and that really limits your arm movement — especially if you’re leaning on your fretting hand. Plus you can strum faster standing up, which is always a good thing.
- Practice! There is no magical ritual you go through to be good at Guitar Hero — you just practice. If you’re having trouble in a certain part of a song, go to practice mode and practice it. You can slow down parts of the song and see what buttons you have to press in what order. It helps me get through songs like Raining Blood and One.
These tips (except for number 3) are also good for people who play guitar for Rock Band. But the Fender Sratacaster controller for Rock Band is having problems, so pick up the X-plorer for Rock Band. All Guitar Hero controllers work for Rock Band, but the Rock Band controller does not work in Guitar Hero. Hope these tips help.
Rock Band Special Edition For PlayStation 2 Released
Harmonix, the leading worldwide developer of music-based games, and MTV Games, part of Viacom’s MTV Networks, along with distribution partner Electronic Arts, announced today that the Rock Band Special Edition Bundle for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system will ship to U.S. retail stores on Tuesday, December 18, 2007.
Developed in collaboration with Pi Studios, Rock Band for the PlayStation 2 system showcases many of the same challenging modes and rock music featured in the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game entertainment system from Microsoft versions, including Band World Tour and Score Duel, which allows drum vs. drum, guitar vs. guitar, and vocal vs. vocal play.
“Our team was honored to work side by side with Harmonix to create Rock Band for the PlayStation 2 and extremely proud of the result,” stated Robert Erwin, CEO of Pi Studios. “Together, we were able to deliver the addictive nature and brilliance of the core Rock Band gameplay while giving PS2 owners the ultimate rock experience just in time for the holidays.”
Rock Band invites players to interact with music like never before, challenging them to join a band and set out on tour - all while learning to master lead/bass guitar, drums and vocals. Featuring the most master recordings of any music game ever by the world’s biggest rock artists, Rock Band for the PlayStation 2 system includes 58 tracks and spans every genre of rock ranging from alternative and classic rock to heavy metal and punk.
The Rock Band Special Edition Bundle for the PlayStation 2 system features a wireless Fender Stratocaster guitar controller, an electronic drum kit, real drum sticks, a microphone, and software and has a suggested retail price of $159.99. Standalone Rock Band software for the PlayStation 2 system is also available for the suggested retail price of $49.99. Rock Band for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 use the same instruments so players do not need to buy new instruments if they upgrade their console.
