Destroy Your Game Pad And Win Valuable Prizes!

Arcade-In-A-Box announces the launch of its “Smash It UP!” contest where one lucky gamer will win their choice of a custom Arcade-In-A-Box Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PlayStation 2 Arcade-style joystick and nine other people will win great prizes from retro gaming companies including: GameRoom Magazine, Console Classix, and MameRoom Designs. To enter, gamers need to think of the most creative and awesome way to destroy a traditional gamepad, tape the destruction, and then upload the video to the Smash It UP! group on YouTube.

“Pretty much every hardcore gamer has wanted to throw their gamepad against the wall and break it into tiny pieces after losing a match in Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter,” says Ed Farias, owner of Arcade-In-A-Box. “Now is the time to take that anger out on those wimpy gamepads and maybe win some great swag in the process!”

The contest will last about until the end of April, at which time a panel of judges will pick the top 10 videos. Once those videos are selected, they will be displayed so users can vote on their favorite video by voting for them on DIGG.com. The winners will be determined by the amount of DIGGs each video gets.

The rules are really simple:

  • No nudity
  • No drug use
  • Nothing illegal
  • Must be a United States resident

Nintendo Wii Zapper

Nintendo’s success with Wii thus far has been amazing, especially considering its underdog status and a stigma that was attached to it before Wii. However, the company has recouped that image, stuck with its brand and its meaning, and gained a lot of respect from consumers. And for good reasons. The Wii is a super product that deserves praise. Not to mention that Nintendo is insanely innovative to release appropriate accessories that just make sense, one of which is the newly announced Zapper.

Zapper is a hollow shell for the Wii controllers that, once integrated, works to transform the simple controller into an interesting looking gun. Or at least that’s the premise behind it. While Zapper matches well with the controller and the rest of the system, it’s not quite gun-like. Allow us to explain. Although the structure is relatively realistic, the round edges and oversized controls don’t have an emotional impact with First Person Shooter games. That’s fine, though.

Integrating the two pieces was very straightforward. Once you slide in the controller and lock it in place, Zapper is all set to go for a more realistic experience. It’s lightweight, and makes playing with it a breeze. It’s designed to not interrupt the signal between the controller and the receiving unit, which keeps the signal strong despite the new attachment.

As it’s apparent, there’s nothing particularly exciting about Zapper other than its realistic approach to action gaming. However, it does come with Link’s Crossbow Training, a mini Zelda-themed game to help you practice with the Zapper. Did we mention the game is included in the package and is priced for in the final price? And surprisingly enough, the game is very good for all intents and purposes. Not only is it good to get your Zapper workout on, but it’s interesting enough to play even when you are a Zapper pro. There are nine levels in total with three different stages to help you move, move, move. It’s simple, it’s fun and it’s enjoyable. What more could we ask for?

All in all, Nintendo’s Zapper is a great looking product that works as expected and comes with an interesting little game to keep you occupied for a fun-filled evening. All of this for only $20.00; you have no reason not to purchase it. All in all, Nintendo’s Zapper is a great looking product that works as expected and comes with an interesting little game to keep you occupied for a fun-filled evening.
