Top 5 PS3 Tips

Gnomie W1LK1N5 from our chat room writes:

Hey Chris,

I have heard lately that there is a lot of buzz about the PS3. Being really fortunate to have the Xbox 360 Elite and the PS3 I have had the chance to experience the best of both worlds.

Here are my top five tips for the PS3.

  1. Buy a second controller. Your fun can always be improved with a friend playing that first person shooter or racing game.

  2. Subscribe to the PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Network is just like Xbox Live but with a slight difference: the online gaming is free! The PlayStation network also has an online store for you to buy movies, trailers, games, or updates. Its basically just like the Xbox Live Marketplace but with real money instead of Microsoft points.
  3. Keep your firmware up to date. As Sony does tend to update the PS3’s firmware almost every month to two months, it’s always a good idea to either download the update from the PS3’s built-in wireless chip or to download it from the Sony Web site. With the much anticipated PS3 home, it is once again a good idea to continuously update your firmware.
  4. Keep it cool. As with most things, the PS3 has had some problems with overheating.
  5. Use the Blu-ray Player - Since the PS3’s price is so high because of its Blu-ray DVD capabilities, you should use your investment to its full potential. You’re paying a lot of money for the console, so use it! However, Blu-ray DVDs do not come cheap. Best to buy them at a sale or something. (So there is a slight bonus tip!)
