Xbox 360 Vs. PS3: The Great Debate

Gnomie Anthony from our chat room writes:
Hey Chris!
I’d like to state all of the pros and cons for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
I’ll start with the PS3
Pros:
- Beats 360 in month-by-month sales
- Free wireless, built-in Blu-ray, and free online play via the PlayStation Network
- Internet broswer
- Blu-ray won the format war
- ALL games are on Blu-ray discs (that’s a whopping 50 Gigs per disc!), allowing great games to be born!
- VERY low failure rate
- Great connectivity between the PS3, the PSP, and the computer
- VERY quiet fan
- Small, light controllers
- Sixaxis wireless controller for certain games
Cons:
- Few great games, but plenty of great games coming soon
- Not as many people on the PSN compared to XBL
- Demos, add-ons, and such are on the PSN after the XBL Marketplace
- Some (very few) PS3s have disc drive problems that don’t read the discs properly or will not accept the discs at all
- No rumble controllers (but seriously it’s not that important); also, the rumble controllers have been announced
Now for the Xbox 360
Pros:
- XBL has many people and a great connection
- You can own noobs online while listening to your favorite music!
- Beats PS3 in overall sales due to the fact that it was released over a year before the PS3
- Great games
- Demos, add-ons, and such are on the XBL Marketplace before the PS3
- Rumble in controllers
Cons:
- WAY too many callbacks and problems (RRoD, destroying of discs, etc.)
- If you bought everything to as closely match the features of the PS3 it’d cost almost the price of the sytem itself (HD DVD drive, wireless hook-up, XBL payments) — these things add up!
- No Internet browser
- HD DVD lost the format war
- All games are on regular DVD discs (a measly 5 Gigs of memory), which greatly limits games
- WAY too high of a failure rate — about 17%, in fact
- Large, heavy, roaring jet engine fans!
I myself am a PlayStation owner and lover, and was trying not to be biased. I gave facts and only facts.

Uhm…some inconsistencies with these lame comparisons. And your facts are off.
Xbox 360 cons first:
> WAY too many callbacks and problems (RRoD, destroying of discs, etc.)
I agree, but MS has bent over backwards to make things right.
>If you bought everything to as closely match the features of the PS3 it’d cost almost the price of the system itself (HD DVD drive, wireless hook-up, XBL payments) — these things add up!
The great thing is: I DON’T HAVE TO BUY ALL THAT STUFF IF I DON’T WANT TOO!. I don’t need HD DVD/BR, I bought a wireless router/bridge for $5; works great and and I can get 13mo of xbl for less than he cost of a game. It ain’t that expensive.
>No Internet browser
Hmmmm. My computer has one - I’ll stick with that.
> HD DVD lost the format war
Who cares?! I didn’t buy into it so it doesn’t impact me. Nor does it impact the games.
> All games are on regular DVD discs (a measly 5 Gigs of memory), which greatly limits games
Wrong-o buck-o. Dual layer DVD’s hold up to 9gb. Name one cross platform game that uses more than 9gb. Can’t… didn’t think so. Name 5 PS3 games that use more than 9gb… can’t didn’t think so either.
> WAY too high of a failure rate — about 17%, in fact
Large, heavy, roaring jet engine fans!
You already made that point. Do you play with he sound off? I don’t and can barely hear the fans.
Now the PS3 Pros:
> Beats 360 in month-by-month sales
Wow… 1 month… hardly a trend. And this makes better games how?
> Free wireless, built-in Blu-ray, and free online play via the PlayStation Network
You get what you pay for. Oh, do you have cross-game communications? seamless integration of your dashboard in all games? Does Sony demand any type of consistency across anything or is it free-for-all? Talk about an uneven experience! Oh, is your friend’s list carried from game to game?
> Internet browser
Whoop-die-do.. My computer has one.
> Blu-ray won the format war
And this makes the PS3 better how?
> ALL games are on Blu-ray discs (that€™s a whopping 50 Gigs per disc!), allowing great games to be born!
Yet to see those great games being born yet
> VERY low failure rate
That’s nice.
> Great connectivity between the PS3, the PSP, and the computer
Really? Can you plug into Media Center? Is it seamless?
> VERY quiet fan
Ooh.. you can sleep when it’s crunching DNA numbers.
> Small, light controllers
But do they feel good? the 360’s controller probably the best controller ever made.
> Sixaxis wireless controller for certain games
A gimmick that’s 90% poorly implemented. Big deal!
Whatever, it all comes down to games and experience and the 360 has both. You can either start playing games now or buy something and hope for the potential to play great games. I’ll stick with the 360.

Just another Sony fanboi! It doesn’t matter which HD format won or that the PS3 games come on Blu-ray disk - except that it adds to the cost of the game for a bunch of wasted space. Most games are released on the 360 & PCs so you won’t see any games using all the space for a long time to come. Besides, games cost enough now imagine how much they would cost if they were that big. In his 360 cons he used the same 1 - WAY too many callbacks and problems (RRoD, destroying of discs, etc.) & WAY too high of a failure rate — about 17%, in fact are the same thing. He also missed a con for the PS3 - the free on-line play sucks big time compared to Xbox live.

Yeah, you guys mostly said it all. The only thing in my opinion is that it’s partially what you’ve known. I never was an original Xbox user- although I owned one, and used it rarely- i don’t call my self a user… Either way, I was a Playstation guy since PS1, and so in turn someone who owns the 360 and has been an xbox guy will probably find that the PS3 cons outweigh the Pros of the 360… or visa versa. It just depends who you ask on which is better.
On a secondary note: I don’t like either of them as much as I did (I can only stand shipping a system back 2 times before it just gets annoying, and on the PS3- bought it when it was new… price=^^^); but from a Machinimationist *or w.e, I tend to find the xbox platform works better… probably personal opinion though. In the end, I’ve resorted to borrowing friend’s and ended up donating both to a charity, in hopes of something even better in the future (What ever happened to the PSX… not PS1, but PSX?).

I have neither. And I’m trying to find which one to get. So, I’m not biased.
Firstly, I think it does sum it up fairly well. Don’t have much time to write here, but it does seem fairly balanced, from what I’ve heard. Betty/mordin just sound like fanboys.
50gb vs 10gb will probably make a huge difference in the future.
XBL is cheap, and much better though.
Blu-ray beating HD-DVD is fairly significant IMO.

I’ve had my xbox 360 for about a year now and i have yet to have problems with it. and i have thought about getting a ps3 but i keep reminding myself of reasons not to: 1) it’s just a glorified blu ray player; although it can be updated so any upcoming blu ray movies can be played; but that’s not good enough of a reason. 2) the game list is weak; the only reason i have considered even buying one is for mgs 4; still, not good enough. 3) most of the games have been ported over to the 360. and remember how they ported mgs 2 over to the xbox? u can’t tell me that there isn’t a possibility of that happening w/ mgs4.4) The PSN is in no way better than XBOX Live. and who cares if i have to pay to play online? usually when u pay for things, the services are much better. and they are w/ Live.

I find the ps3 kicks butt. Warhawk owns!! and the psp to ps3 is awesome. Sony online has been great for me. They have tons of servers and it never kicks.
I every xbox game I want is also on the PS3, but the PS3 games I like are not on the xbox…like folklore, warhawk, drakes fortune, lair.
The bluetooth connectivity is awesome and the now I buy all my stuff on blu-ray.
Also, size does matter. 9 gig double density sucks compared to 50 gigs on gaming content. The already say that the next Metal Gear will not fit on a blu-ray.

captain betty your points are all irrelevent to most people and some are completely wrong.
e.g. sixaxis is not poorly implemented in most racing games it is great fun and much better than the sticks once you get used to it imo.
And yes, for me the controllers feel good, though (seeing as they were copied from the dreamcast) so do the xbox ones.
Well the xmb is going to be integrated properly in the summer firmware updates and we will then certainly have consistency across everything and cross game communications. Now I fully agree that this has taken far too long and is one big problem of the ps3 and an area where the 360 has a big advantage, though as you say you get what you pay for (of course unless its windows your paying for in which case you certainly do get less than you pay for and infact less than a free Linux alternative) and whenever its released home will definately rival live much more effectively than the psn does at the time of writing. I would like to add, however, that I would much rather have an inferior (yet free) online service for a while -being ps3’s main criticism, than a console with such a high failure rate -being xbox360s main criticism.
Already every game I have seen carries the same friends list as your playstation home account automatically.
As far as I am aware you can use media center with ps3 for media server, but why on earth would you want to? I use linux and so use a much more efficient media server with my ps3 (can you link linux and xbox 360 for media?)
There are many ps3 games that use more than dvd9, some - including heavenly sword, MGS4 etc, even use dual layer blu ray.
I have found the internet browser pretty useful, though definitely not really that important a feature.
The failure rate of the 360 is unacceptable, and is reported by many sources to be much closer to 30-40%. But of course microsoft is very understanding, they have knowledge of marketing and how to twist public oppinion slightly more in their favour. In other words, they cant afford not to be.
The fan, some people may like to watch movies or play games with the sound low for whatever reason. In that situation the load fan could get annoying.
Finally, the folding project though not at all important is a thoughtful addition and a very exciting prospect (to us scientists) that because of games consoles these illnesses can be understood and cured more quickly.
That is not at all biased, and it term of facts just true. (there are many
I have tried to explain some situations in which some people might find the ps3’s advantages to be significant, and the 360s weaknesses to be significant problems.

Both systems have some good points and some bad points. However the bad points of the 360 are a little more troubling then the bad points of the PS3. A few things about the 360 leave a bad taste in my mouth.Microsoft being one of the most profitable companies ever still wants to suck the additional fees for their online services every month when its should be free. Microsoft consoles are a reflection of there software titles; released too soon, full of bugs and plagued with issues. I bought the first gen xbob and it had an assortment of problems and has since then stopped working altogether. I have never encountered an issue with any of my PS’s. My PS 1 still works for gods sake. Microsoft cares only about your money they don’t a shit your satisfaction. Do You think that the XBOX dev Team were unaware of all the disc read errors and overheating before pushing the console out to manufacturing? Of course not. But they were more interested in making money and dealing with the problems later just so they could obtain bragging rights of having the first next-gen console on the market. Hey whaddya know once again Microsoft releases an unpolished product solely for profit. I think I’ll go grab myself a PS3 and not have to worry about dealing with shipping my console back to them for repairs. Even if for now the games may only slighty look better on a PS3. Thats gonna change real fast. But dont worry 360 fans. Microslut will release another buggy console to keep up with the PS3 in a year or so cuz you know… its been awhile since they released a new pos to the market.

First. Thats great that the 360 has all kinds of games. Too bad you’ll be waiting for your console to get repaired to play them.
Second. A movie is not a movie; if you had an HD Plasma TV you’d know that.
Third. That extra 30gb is pretty much useless anyways, you dont need that much space on a console when you have a pc. Unless of course your some kinda freaky redneck that needs to have 6 million games installed on the system at a time.

Anyone who tries to discount the ps3 as not being the best system out has shit for brains. The ps3 is a supercomputer! You can put an os like linux which it fully supports and it can do everything mostly everything that you do on your computer. Like the guy who wrote this said when you get all the attachments which you need like wireless controls, xmb, wi-fi adapter, and memory in most cases then your going to probably pay about 50 more for this and still have to pay when your online expires. Any smart person knows its better to have a blu-ray player, gaming system, and a computer os all with many detailed features than just a gaming system where you can listen to music while chatting to any friend during any game. Xbox has nothing on ps3 so you guys need to get over it already. Xbox 360 is for kids and sony ps3 is for grown ups thats why on xbox live all your hear is kids swearing talking shit, and using racial slurs/remarks like it were the 1800’s. (when they’re parents are gone)

i will be totally baised here and this is an advice for every one who is confused on which console to buy. i ve been researching if i should go with ps3 or 360 for two weeks and i know the exact differences now (all what i am gonna say is my point of view). ps3 is a hardcore playing system, its capabilities and quality are much better than 360. if you are looking which console will last longer then ps3 wil do in ragards to the technology (blue ray) and breakdowns. however the 360 can easily servive for the next 3 years without any problems and in 3 years time the xbox 720 will be released.
graphics on both 360 and ps3 are almost the same and will continue to do so. i know the 360 has a limit of 9 GB for games but think about it. if the game requires more space then the game can be on 2 or more discs and there wont be an issue and it wont be that big disadvantage to talk about for the blu ray technology. but quality wise i say 2 thumbs up for ps3 over 360.
now lets go deeply into the history. ps1 was dominant and ps2 as well with a very slight competition with the xbox. but the 360 is a very strong compititer now to the ps3 which means that when you buy the comming generation then you should go for the xbox 720 right away without thinking of the ps4, xbox was new in the market and made mistakes but now they are experienced monstors and with all the money and marketing startegy they follow , they will take over the lead easly in the comming consoles.
right now ps3 and 360 are breaking even in everything (forget about the nonsence differences like noise and stuff) except 1 very important thing in the new gaming world is ONLINE. 360 wins. if playing online which is 100 times more fun than playing solo matters to you you should go for 360.
i will review the pros and cons of both systems and see which is significant. blue ray is not important at all cuz as i said Dual layer dvds can be more than one for big games which will be very few games for the next 3 years.
noise, this is not an issue at all, the noise of 360 is little bit higher but u wont be hearing it at all unless you are playing games with no audio which is impossible.
quality: ps3 is better but dont forget that the new 360 has 3 years warranty + microsoft is continuously updating the 360 hardware. for example releasing the new falcon motherboard version that got rid of the heating problem 99% and RROD and Jaspar vergin which will be realsed on Aug to enhance the console even more and yet to come.
Sales mmmm noone cares who sells more we care which console is more fun.
number of games, well 360 has more but ps4 is catching up but why is that an issue, if u r a millionair and wanna buy 10 games at a time then it could be, but you buy on avarage a game every 3 months and believe me despite the fact that ps3 has less games you will get confused on which game to get.
online gameing which makes all the difference, sony servers hang sometimes plus that there are games which is hard to find an online gamer to play with.
conclusion:
its wrong to look at the future cuz all consoles will be replaced in the future unless u want to stick to your console for 10 years. look at a console that is more fun and gives real gaming experience, in my case without generlizing its the XBOX 360.
hope this was benficial to others

True, there is more games on the xbox 360 than the PS3 but whos to say you are limited when it comes to games on the PS3?
Who cares about blu ray a movie is a movie? Have you not seen HD content vs. non HD content yet? Unless you don’t have a HDTV and never plan on getting one then you can say a movie is a movie.
The xbox 360 elite has a 120GB hard drive and the best ps3 only has 90gb? Obviously you don’t know that with the PS3 you can swap the stock hard drive (regardless of its size) and replace it with ANY laptop hard drive.
Cooling is more efficient and better designed which allows the PS3 to never get hot enough for concern (even when its on all day it barely comes close to being warm).
Of course, it is a well known fact that xbox live is better than the playstation network but all additional features that are offered with your 60$ a year service are outweighed by the same online gameplay where it is never hard to find servers that are full.

I own both a 360 and a ps3. I actually got the 360 1st and then the ps3 a yr later. At 1st, the 360 was the better system, but now, the ps3 is indeed the better buy if you have neither. playstation home will make up for what little the psn is missin compared to xbl. The xmb will very soon be completely useable in game, and either way, i have a psp and listen to music on their even while playin games on the 360. After all, u can actually put songs on a 360 w/o a cd, while on a ps3, u can even download songs on the net for free if u know how. Lastly, as for games, when I go to gamestop and look around, theres nothin I really want on the 360 that isnt on the ps3, while i can still buy ps2 games and play them on the ps3. That addresses all the issues, and in the end, the ps3 is deffinitely a better buy =D

After having both, I have to say something because I’m getting tired of “fanboys”.
The fact that people are running around saying that the PS3 has the same graphical capabilities as the 360 is A JOKE! My PS3 was bought with promises of better performance and graphics overall, and with the enthusiasm of a Sony fan since PS1… But… The PS3 is now a paperwieght.
Seriously… Side by side comparison on my TV, both HDMI, exact same games and resolution settings, countless playing with PS3’s picture settings (which we never even worried about with the Xbox) and NO. Close, but obvious difference. Textures were blockier, lighting wasn’t as reactive (or EXISTANT for that matter), and anti-aliasing was not as effective on the PS3 at ALL. The PS3 also had framerate lag issues on games the Xbox did not (Call of Duty 4 & Timeshift especially) and had HORRIBLE jaggies on Skate that were not there for the 360 version.
We compared Assassins Creed, Timeshift, Skate, and Call of Duty 4 before calling it a day and putting away the PS3 for good. It will only see Blu Ray and MGS4 for the rest of its days no doubt.
Coupled with the fact that the bluetooth headsets hardly ever work correctly so online voice chat is RARE and troublesome. Setup of a PS3 is finicky overall also. Download times for EVERYTHING is slower for an unknown reason. 1 GB on my Xbox = 15 minutes, 1 GB on my PS3 = 45 minutes… Everytime. Dashboard updates, game installs, loading, and saving… All take notoriously longer on my PS3.
The controllers? Hilarious… Probably 10 hours on the PS3, 25 or so on the Xbox.
Now for the kicker…
The PS3 was moved from the living room to the bedroom, placed on a bed in the process… And all data on the hard drive is now corrupted.
My 360 drive has withstood hours in a backpack in a trunk during roadtrips, but the second time in the PS3’s short life it was ever moved it disturbed the drive enough to corrupt it.
Elite Xbox w/ Wireless adapter = The cost of a PS3, but you have a bigger hard drive, an HDMI cable, and a headset. The two latter of which you must buy extra for a PS3. I’ll trade that for a blu ray player any day on my VIDEO GAME MACHINE.
Btw… I have a 42 inch LCD 1080p TV, and the Hi-Def movies I download from Xbox Live look just as good as the blu ray movies.

Diz One lol you = not fanboy?
obviously you are a xbox fanboy.
how hard did you drop your ps3 when moving it a few rooms? any hard drive regardless of type will get corrupted when dropped. lucky for you, you can replace it with any laptop hard drive.
and btw, all ps3 controllers last 40 hours. not 10.
in game chat on the ps3 is popular and most people use bluetooth headsets. online voice chat is troublesome? thats a very good reason for kicking the ps3 in the ass. are you tech-challenged?
skate was poorly designed and experiences framerate issues on both the ps3 and xbox.
cod4 laggs for you? check to make sure you’re not pumping 200 volts into your ps3 because cod4 never lags on any ps3.
before condemning the ps3 for rougher texture and poorer lighting then consider the fact that the xbox had a extra year to mature. give the ps3 more time to unleash its potential. dont be mad because the xbox cant be pushed ferther.

I admittedly play the 360 more often because of Live. If Sony can get its shit together, and it looks like they’re on the right track with MGS4, Drake, and MAG, then the PS3 should do better.
Speaking of MAG if they get that game to work out the way im hoping it does, thats going to be sick.
Also im looking forward to seeing what the fall update looks like on the 360

Peter J is completely right the PS3 is way better.
and PS3 online is fine and there are never any problems. I’d much rather have free online and it being a tad worse then 360’s then have to pay 60$ a year for it. Say you have 360 for three years or so that’s 180$! Say you have PS3 for ten years, online= 0$! Obviously XBL is better since you have to pay money! COD4 never lags and there are plenty of good games on PS3.
My friend told me PS3 was better a while ago and I thought he was wrong. Now he convinced me and told me all the stuff about it and I know for a fact PS3 is better. Oh yeah, even if Elite has 120gb. who cares? 80gb. on the PS3 is completely fine! You don’t need all that space.
The PS3 controllers aren’t less comfortable then the Xbox 360’s . And the Siaxis is very fun and much more entertaining and challenging then the joysticks.
Blu-Ray movies are a hundred times better then HD-DVD movies. I have a 48″ Samsung LCD TV and the Blu-Ray makes the movie a lot better. If I bought the 360 and got it for like a hundred less or whatever then the PS3, I’d still have to buy the Blu-Ray player for like 350$ or 400$ more at the least. So anyone who says PS3 is more expensive is wrong.
Buy the PS3 NOT the 360 it’s simple.

guys no matter what you think or what your opinions are, the ps3 is more revolutionary, and theres nothing you can do if you bought the wrong product, youre merely going to have to accept the reality of the PS3 being epic.

i had a 360 for about a year, i had the red ring of death twice.Fixed it myself, by turning it off for 10 mins then taking the display adaptor out of the 360 then turning it on, while being still on i put it back in and it worked fine. The 360 has gd games, but the good ones other then halo 3 will/ are on pc.
I decided to trade in my 360 for ps3, the ps3 just feels like a better machine. Its quieter and the games do look slightly better. I think Ps3 will win overall but i dont think 360 will die so quickly like the orignal xbox (which i did own). I think it will come down to the ps3 overall power and blue ray in the future but it prob wont matter as i bet there will be a new xbox on its way in 2011/12 but i will prob stick with the ps3.

ok there are many things in this article that are not taken into consideration. i am a computer programmer and graphics designer and im currently going back to school for computer engineering. ill talk about hardware first
the xbox has a more powerful gpu and a processor made for games not doing STRICT mathematical calculations. and the ps3 failed with blue ray in it because it dosent have that much benefit for 2 reasons.
1. the ps3 has a IBM cell based processor with 7 Synergistic Processor Elements (like mini virtual cores) with 1 logical core. this means the Cell processor in the ps3 uses linear processing. Meaning its the code that tells it exactly what to do. The xbox 360 tri core processor is open processing. Meaning it doesn’t need as much code to tell it what to do. the 360’s is variable based. meaning the data on the disk takes up less space because of less needed programming plus most games have a variable processing environment so they choose which core to work on.for the ps3 a programmer would have to tell each spe (Synergistic Processor Element) what to do at what times (uses alot of code)
2. Microsoft holds the rights to direct x. direct x is a virtual rendering application used in windows and xbox360. using direct x makes models take up less data space and use less gpu memory plus the 360 has a more powerful gpu.
in conclusion a 360 game and ps3 game are about the same in quality and length considering the 3-5 times more space needed for ps3 programming.

dudes, i dont know what to go for..PS3 or 360??????????
but after reading all these comments it looks like ps3 is the winner…
and above that, have you seen the shape of the 360 - its so fat and weighs 5 kgs and is white and grey -wtf!
but the ps3 is sleek black and as others have said, paperlight.
so if you wanna play other losers who are online in the 360, then go for the fat 5 kg 360 but if you wanna go for a variety of games, wicked new online “Home” and the cool colour sleek look, and sixaxis and go online using yur console then obviosly go for ps3!

it seems like all u ps3 fans think about is the blu-ray capability. who cares about blu-ray? yea, it has the potential for great games. ps3’s been out for a year, and ive yet to see baby steps towards great gaming. imo, i would rather buy a system and play great games, then buy a polished turd and have the potential for a good game here and there. ps3 exclusive games all suck (Heavenly Sword, Lair, MotorStorm), and dont try to bring up “mgs4 is awesome”, cause its only a matter of time before its transfered over to the xbox, just like MGS2. psn sucks, its server is always too slow, and why would i wait forever to load a browser, when i can walk into the next room and do it in 3 seconds with my PC? IMO, ps3 is just a packaged polished turd, and 360 owns it in every way, performance, internet connectivity, price, games, everything,

Im planning on getting a new system very soon, but im stuck between these two very great systems
Im not looking into buying a system for DVD purposes and watching movies. Im not very picky about the graphics, as long as they are better than the ps2 graphics (which they are, so thats not a problem)
Right now im leaning toward the 360, just because it has better games and better online play. Whats turning me away from this is that the 360 breaks down 30% of the time and you have to pay for online play. That doesnt happen with the ps3.
Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks

Ok, so I own an Nintendo Wii, yeah i know what you guys are thinking: “Ha, the Wii sucks!”. The Wii is ok and is perfectly fine. Its not as revolutionizing as the PS3 or 360 but hey, the nintendo exclusives are fun! Nevertheless, Wii has gone WAY too casual and i’m bored with it, you can’t play smash bros. and mario kart forever! So, me and my bro were looking into either a 360 or a PS3. At first, I wanted a 360. Most of my friends have one and they all duke it out on Cod4,Halo,etc. I just want to have fun and challenge my peers you know? But then, we came across the Ps3. I despized the PS3, it didn’t have any good games on it except for Rachet and Clank, Drake, Resistance, and a few others. Then, I noticed all of the new titles coming out like M.A.G.,Infamous,little big planet,Resistance2,Killzone 2, and my personal fav: NARUTO ULTIMATE NINJA STORM! The Blue ray disk drive (or whtever powers it) gives the PS3 power. MAG is only possible on PS3 and Naruto’s graphics resemble the show. I still kinda wanted a 360 but i remembered its huge failure rate and how everyone i know with a 360 had to send theres to Microsoft eventually to get it fixed. I also remembered how Microsoft is basically a load of ripoffs since they charge you for basically everything, well xboxlive is worth the pay but everything adds up. I come from a decent family, were not too rich and not too poor but kinda more towards the poor side….anyway,i can’t afford to pay for xboxlive and to purchase all of the add ons. As much as i want to play my friends(who keep on pressuring me into getting a 360!) im going to have to go with the PS3. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Xbox fanboy or a PS3 fanboy, I’m simply a Wiifanboy who has come to understand that all he cares about is great games. I think that Ps3 has a stronger drive to that goal. I go to my friends house’s and play halo and Cod4, they get boring after awhile. Gears 2 comes out towards Xmas but i have a feeling tht i would get bored with that too. I mean its basically the same thing with a couple add ons like chainsaw dueling, better online, and a few new weapons. With all the new PS3 titles coming out, I’ll have a hard time not being bored. 360 has nothing really coming out except Gears 2. Microsoft is getting more casual so they can compete with the Wii sales. Rare is developing these things that resemble Wii’s Miis for the 360 too. Point being, Microsoft just cares about money, Sony does too but they have things a bit harsh right now. For every PS3 sold, Sony loses about $270 whereas Microsoft loses about $75. Because of this, Konami hasnt made much money off of MGS4. Sony only has the exclusive for about 9 months or something like that. When tht time is up, MGS4 will be porrted to the 360. I just want a console that won’t break down on me and will keep me and my family entertained. I’m not here to start more arguments about whats better:360 or PS3?. I just need to figure out what i should get. I believe the PS3 is a better value however since Blue ray dvd players cost alot and they won the format war. As for graphics, who gives they look about the same (except for Naruto, then again diff. game). The Hd dvd on 360 is now pointless until greedy microsoft makes some new add on or perhaps another version of 360. The PS3 won’t die on me like a 360 would at some point. I also heard that the PS3’s disk drive will wear out faster than a 360’s. Well, when that does happen, i’ll just get it fixed if not replaced. Even if i cn’t do that, hey at least i had a good time with it. Point being, I don’t really give a damn about whats better anymore and you fan boys shouldn’t too. You should be happy with what you got and if you have both then yay for you. You fanboys all sound like whiney babies when you complain about whats better. Just stop with the talk and enjoy wht you have! Some people cant even afford these things you should be grateful! The whole point of this review was to make peace between you fanboys and to help ease my thoughts on wht i should get. I hpe that you guys will do whats right or at least what your heart commands you to do. As of me, I think i’ll stick a bunch of paper with 360 or PS3 written all over it in a box then randomly pick out one. Oh, another thing. Sony is improving PSN, you will soon be able to do everything the dasboards allow you to do and more. One more thing, you can’t listen to music while pwning on people on the PS3, Who cares about how uch the disks hold, as long as they are great games then thts good. And developers were looking into cross-console gameplay so look forward to that. Thats all that matters. People plz leave comments about this one. I respect those who do, even if they talk crap about me or whtever. K, you fanboys get along and just have some fun!

A very good friend of mine told me this stuff. Note hes a 360fanboy well sort of, hes like half wii half 360. Well here it goes: 1. the 40GB PS3 doesnt have any backwards compatibility for ps2 games.
2. the PS3’s SPUs are harder for developers to take full advantage of as opposed to the 360’s CPUs. these govern overall preformance of games. mostly how smothly the run, but they have a little to do with graphics.
3. the 360’s GraphicsProcessingUnit is more powerfull than than the PS3’s GPU, allowing higher resolution games that still run smoothly.
4. blu-ray may have won the format war, but when your disc drive runs out from a couple of years of gaming and cinematic adventures you’d have to toss the entire console. whereas the 360s movie thingy is separate which lets it last longer and doesnt require you to chuck you console when it burns out. i expect microsoft to produce a blu-ray player pretty soon otherwise there a bunch of dumb fucks.
5. the only thing i like about the PS3 is that it is quieter than the 360. that helps when watching movies, viewing slideshows, and listening to music, but whan you are caught up in a movie or completely engulfed by an intense game you can block out the noise.
6. the 360s purchased before sept. 2007 are the ones with the real big problems so wouldnt worry about having a GPU explode or some shit like that.
so the sum it up the 360 has 4 points, the PS3 has 1 point (two halves) you do the math.
after a couple of years of wear and tear disc drives can burn out. when everything is combined it gets closer to that point that much faster. the seperate drive is kinda nice to have if the burned out one is unrepairable. + i have a feeling sony isnt gonna have the blu-ray advantage for long.

i got a 360 for my birthday last year and since then ive decided it was a mistake. live isnt that great. the games that you cant buy on the ps3 (halo excluded) are pretty much babyish piles of tish (yes i mean viva pinata).
it gets hot, the lack of built in wifi means you have to have it near a router (big problem for me as the only free one is in the opposite end of the house to my bedroom) and the os sucks. it lags whilst opening the dashboard and it has even changed my settings before so i get the carp grey background that looks tish tbh.
microsoft should just let people have all of their money back if they want and go back to making their next crappy computer operating system as their current one with which i have been cursed (and on a brilliant laptop too) fails in so many ways i’m looking at you windows shista

Well I had hoped that after reading all this I’d have a clear decision between the xbox360 or PS3. Not the case. Seems pretty 50/50 to me. However an analysis of the main points brought up here may allow me to come to a conclusion of which to get.
1. Xbox Live is better then the PS3 counterpart, however Live comes with a $60.00 a year price tag and the other is free. Since Live is better, the cost of a mere $60 a year shouldn’t matter to a gamer who direly wants on-line play. Since I don’t care about on-line play so much, none of this is much of a factor (xbox360+0, PS3+0). Others may give an edge to one or the other, depending on your gaming needs.
2. Graphics and Processor power. From what I’ve read here the PS3 has a slight edge, but only slight and not enough of a difference to really matter, so again, neither console gets the edge here. (xbox360+0, PS3+0).
3. Game selection. XBox seems to have a solid edge here, unless you start to include all the games from the PS2 that can also be played on the PS3, then the scale tips back to the PS3. However, the 360 seems to have far better exclusive games, but most of these are fist person shooters, not a style of game that interests me a whole lot. They tend to be fun for awhile but get boring quick in my opinion. So once again, no edge here for my needs. Others may score this differently (xbox360+0, PS3+0).
4. Reliability. Most everyone agrees that the PS3 wins this one, although one person stated that most of the issues the xbox360 have are from the first gen units. The Xbox also seems to have a much better warranty to offset this seeming negative. However, I’m still going to give the PS3 1 point here as for me the warranty means little as I tend to lose it as soon as I open the box. Also, not having to get something repaired is more important to me then having to get something repaired for free. I’m sure others would disagree. (xbox360+0, PS3+1)
5. Playing movies & Downloading. Both seem pretty capable of this. And although PS3 can play Blu-Ray movies, I’m not about to spend big dollars to buy Blu-Ray movies when I can get movies much cheaper by other means. The Xbox has an edge to downloading tv shows & movies aparently, but I’d never use a console to do this anyway as my computer has an edge over both of these consoles when it comes to this anyway. So again, no edge here. (Xbox360+0, PS3+1).
6. Flexibility for the future. This is a grey area and although the PS3 has an edge here with their Blu-Ray player, and easity to upgrade and non propriety HD, I don’t think its a huge edge. With the easily replaceable player on the Xbox, its quite possible that sometime soon it’ll had a Blu-Ray player too. Then there is the fact that both consoles will be replaced by newer versions soon anyway, so the lifespan of a console is lucky to reach 5 years anyway. So again, no edge here. (Xbox360+0, PS3+1).
7. The little things. Its agreed that the PS3 is quieter. Big woop. If I’m not playing my game at full volume I shouldn’t be playing at all. And I wouldn’t use a console to play a movie anyway, as I’ve got a dvd player equipped with a usb port to play downloaded movies on. Why wear out the console? The PS3 has built in wireless. Again not a big deal as it is available for the Xbox with an added price tag. The Xbox has a 120 gb hd, where the PS3 is only 80 gb. Again, not a big deal, especially with the edge that the PS3 has where it can use any laptop hd, where the Xbox can’t. If 80 isn’t big enough, go buy a 120 and put it in. Not likely going to be an issue though. So once again, not any real edge for me here, although for some of you, some of these little things may be a big deal. For me it ain’t. (Xbox360+0, PS3+1).
The Bottom Line: So overall the Xbox scores a 0 in edge and the PS3 a 1. Still not a big difference between them for my needs. I sapose I could add a point to the PS3 because its black and would go much better with my entertainment system setup where everything is black, but for some the Xbox would probably fit in better for their look. But for me, the looks of a unit doesn’t mean anything. Performance has to count first and so far it looks like they are both pretty equal here.
For me I think it’ll come down to what games I want are the most available at my local EB Games store when I get there tonight to drop my cash on the counter.
Hopefully anyone else going through the above list will come to a less equal score then I did and will end up with a much clearer choice. Happy Gamer either way. :)

Just thought I’d let you guys know since I’ve been researching this a lot. In comparisons, 360’s games are actually better than the same games run on PS3’s. The CPU system used in the 360 is a lot more familiar to developers than the system used in the PS3, and so now for all the potential firepower the PS3 holds, no one’s been able to really maximize that yet. While that means that as of now, the 360 has better graphics, in part due to Blue-ray and in part due to the supercomputer that the PS3 actually is, in the future PS3 games will probably own 360 games. But with the price differences, the 360 is at this point definitely the better deal. It is louder, but just turn up the volume ^^*

I like my 360 because I got XNA and C# express to help creat my own games. Its more fun then anything and pretty easy to learn how to do it. Ether system is pretty good for now. The systems dont cost that much if you ask me most PC’s for games have a video card the cost of just the systems.
P.S. Wii fit is not exercises!!!

Being a video game developer (I develop for both, Playstation 3 and XBOX 360) people ask me almost daily which platform I think is better. These are my personal feelings, in no way does this reflect my employer.
Short answer: XBOX 360.
Long answer: Price, performance, visual quality, game selection and online support. I think the XBOX 360 wins in every category.
Price: This is obvious; the XBOX 360 core is only $299. The PS3 is around $499 for the 20GB version. It comes with a hard drive, but you don’t need a hard drive to enjoy a lot of great games on the 360 so I think it’s fair to compare both core systems.
Performance: On paper, the PS3 is more powerful. In reality, it’s quite inferior to the 360. Without getting into too many details, the three general-purpose CPU’s the xbox360 has are currently FAR easier to take advantage of than the SPU’s on the PS3. I suspect a few years down the road some high budget, first party PS3 exclusive titles will come out that really take advantage of the SPU’s and do things the XBOX 360 can’t, but I don’t think the console is worth buying based on this speculation (for some it will be though, we’ll have to wait and see how these games turn out).
Graphics: The XBOX 360 is a clear winner. The GPU is more powerful. It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower. Part of the reason is their choice of memory, and architecture of pixel and vertex procesing. I can’t get into details but the same vertex shader will run much slower on the PS3 than the XBOX 360. The 360 also has a clever new way rendering high definition anti aliased back buffers. To accomplish the same effect on PS3 is prohibitively expensive. For this reason I think many games will have no choice but to run in non-HD resolutions on the PS3 version, use a lower quality anti aliasing technique, or do back buffer upscaling. The end result in all cases is going to be noticeably worse image quality.
Game Selection: The XBOX 360 has a huge head start here. 1 year is an eternity in gaming. Almost all multi-platform developers have made the XBOX 360 their primary platform due to timing of release-to-market, this means the games will look and perform better on the 360. The PS3 versions will be ports of the 360 versions. (The opposite was true for XBOX 1 vs. PS2). The XBOX 360 is also far faster to develop for due to better development tools (massively popular Visual Studio .NET vs. proprietary, buggy PS3 compiler and debugger), better documentation, and easier architecture (3 general purpose CPU’s vs. 8 specialized processors that require DMA). Timing has also caused all next-gen middleware developers to make XBOX 360 their primary platform, and they will ‘add ps3 support’ as needed. This support will probably be inferior to the XBOX 360’s due to manpower and more importantly, demand. It’s this catch-22 now that will continue to drive the 360 forward and hold PS3 back.

Hi all, please help me to choose one. PS3 or XBOX 360?
I just want a console supported with two aspects of high quality. Those aspects are GAMES and RELIABILITY.
Finally, there is a developer’s opinion by Pete (are you a Pete, the famous plugin creator for ePSXe and PCSX2? lol).
But i want to compare Pete’s result with (another good quality opinion) TheApathyGeneral’s result. Note that i will say XBOX 360 to just an XBOX. Heheheh… I just too lazy to write that 360 numbers.
So i get these several conclusions:
# Pete give 1 point to XBOX for the Graphics (Games)
# TheApathyGeneral give 1 point to PS2 for the Reliability
And at the end it still gives an even score…
THE GAMES:
I believe (and also the fact) the winner is XBOX. FYI, the most anticipated game for me is Final Fantasy XIII, which will be released into XBOX also (at first it is an PS3 exclusive).
THE RELIABILITY:
That XBOX’s rrod thingy is a very scary issue… So i want an HONEST OPINION from all of you guys who’ve been brought a second published XBOX and use it for at least one year. Is rrod (still) happen in your XBOX???
Please help me, i really want to play (”this”) next gen console right away!
Keep discussing guys! Cheers! :))

Hahaha funny that 360 people threw away something that will hit the 360 hard, Blu-ray. (lewl look below).
First of all PS3 sales won most of the months since release starting from Fiscal Year 2006 Quarter 3 from Fiscal Year 2008 Quarter 1. It has grown with an average growth of 38.7% faster than the 360. (to make it easier, rate = PS3 > 360)
Companies are now turning to the PS3 as their primary development platform:
Electronic Arts
Activision
TEAM Ninja Head Mr. Itagaki is now also expressing support.
Harddrive space is not a problem for the PS3. Any generic laptop SATA drive will work for the PS3, yes this makes a 500 GB drive possible only for the PS3, as of this date of course.
Microsoft WANTS YOU TO CASH OUT FOR THEM:
You cannot buy any other HDD for the 360, only proprietary Microsoft Harddrives work. (How selfish indeed.)
Power of the PS3:
SPUs, contrary to what pete (the oldschool) said, SPUs need to be studied. It actually performs better, according to Industry Players and Experts. The PS3 has 8 SPUs 7 are beings used as what has been publicly reported, but the 8th is tagged as reserved. SPU can be configured to work with the GPU which can, together, render graphics better than the 360.
(duhh, whats the reason for the reserved 8th SPU?, Sony always puts it gadgets above par incase of emergencies, see the PSP Clocking, it was revealed it could run 111 mhz faster God of War CoO uses it. 360 fanatics overlooked that one XD).
Coding for the PS3:
Software developers are now SWITCHING to the PS3 as their base development platform.
(bye bye .NET framework, i guess microsoft cant play all of its folly cards together, thats too bad ;D). So, 360 games are going to be ported FROM the PS3.
PS3, Online:
Yes as widely reported Playstation Network is FREE OF CHARGE unlike in the Xbox wherein you must pay to play games online (too bad that could’ve been another game).
Playstation has content for its users to explore. Plus, to boast off, Playstation will promote the interactive interface by using PlaystationHOME as a bridge between PSN activities. Think of it as a free virtual online game where you can meet other players. Speaking of meeting other players, you can meet up with your friends first online before you start playing your game online (very useful for offgame planning, especially when your friends are a continent away).
Microsoft wants to charge you to be able to participate online (not including the feature of Silver/not paying members, very useless features in my opinion).
Media of PS3:
The PS3 uses the Blu-ray optical disc as its hard media, developed by Sony, Philips and Pioneer(DVRB). The PS3 can store 50GBs of data in a dual layer Blu-ray disc. In Feb. 19, 2008, Warner Bros. announced that it would be dropping its HD DVD support and it would only produce Blu-ray discs for its products. Soon after, Toshiba announced that it would stop production of HD DVD line but still provide support for those who bought it (too bad). Blu-ray for gaming can store more content, more complex triggers, more items, more maps, to sum it all up, more content. This would hit the 360 hard especially when Blu-ray becomes more and more adopted as Microsoft would need to compress its files to fit the aging DVD (DVD was phenomenal, without doubt, but its about to set.). If Microsoft would choose to compress its files the total available RAM and the Calculation Power of the 360 would be futher reduced, causing it to be inferior*, unless ofcourse 360 owners would want to opt for media installs in the already cramped HDD of the 360.
An instance of future uses of Blu-ray, HD cutscenes and short cinematic touches in-game, More weapons, More variations of spell effects, larger map areas, better and more complex triggers. A possible larger sand-box game environment.
These are just some in my head but I believe theres much more. (Blu-ray is such a victory for the PS3)
(*extrapolation and prediction, may vary slightly, but highly possible)
Games of the PS3:
Ohh theres alot, so I’ll just mention notable ones (yea the ones i’ll get when they come out):
-Heavenly Sword
great game! alot of possible kill moves, uses the SIXAXIS
-Warhawk*
PS3’s contender to Halo, looking forward to the promising expansion pack of this great game.
-Metal Gear Solid 4*
Well, 360 owners are surely missing out the experience,
its too good for words.
-Resistance*
Gears of War of the PS3.
-LittleBigPlanet*
oooohh looks like fun! (Spore of side-scrollers?)
revolutionizing side-scrollers I sense…
-Killzone 2*
XD amg awesome trailers
-Resistance 2*
more sick and wicked stuff I can see XD
-Fat Princess*
woohoo bloodfeastingly, its going to be better than
Castle Crashers in my opinion.
-Flower
from thatgamecompany, we have another artful game.
although i’m not sure on how you play this one.
(*playable online)
Those are just some of the great games that the PS3 boasts with pride.
MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION NOW AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM LOSING MONEY TO MICROSOFT.
For people who are spreading the good news towards the greater benefit of all things PS3:
Remember, if many people bought the Xbox 360 in 16 months earlier, this certainly includes people who aren’t quite patient for the release of the PS3. Now they have chosen to spend their money on a machine that from what it looks like now is losing. Brush on the papers comrades the text herald it, the obvious victory (for the PS3 ofcourse).
For Xbox owners that want to change their fate:
There is still hope, you can still sell that console for some value before it utterly loses in a few years. Just save up a little more and you get a new greater machine, the PS3.
@HelpMeChooseO
yes the 360 still gets RRoD, the PS3 is more reliable.

OK matthew if you want football games then youre gonna want the 360 - madden NFL on the 360 gets 60fps whereas the p*ss 3 version gets only 30 - yes i am an xbox fanboy but HelpMeChooseO the ring of death only happened with the first batch (few hundred xbox consoles) and most, if not all, have already been sold, so the likelyhood of the rrod happening to your xbox is 1/10000… also if you get the rrod then just send it away to microsoft, wait a week, then they send it back telling you what was wrong with the console and give you a free month of xbl

Um ok.. first off tech noob your an idiot
Learn to read other comments also
The ps3 processer is better, ON PAPER and arnt being taken advantage of in games.
Meaning, its not Optimized for performance
For idiots, its like buying a car when your not gona have a drive license for like 3 years. Have fun walking. Thats what your gona do on the ps3, while the 360 drives.
the 360s processer is the bang of the buck
Where everyone KNOWS how to optimize the processor so the game runs smoothly. and this helps with the graphics where the 360 CLEARLY wins. Better frame rate mk = smoother games.
Sure in maybe 2-3 years the ps3 processor will be explored and optimized more but guess what, thats later. when in 3 yrs+ i bet the xbox 720 and ps4 are gona be out and, by then no1 is gona care about the 360s or Ps3.
Btw the 360 still is the base platform for games sorry bud.
maybe in 2 yrs or so theyll switch to the ps3 cause theyll finally be able to optimize the processor
WOOO U GOT BLU RAY. Dude
when ur drive burns out, your gona buy a new system? or what.
the 360, when hd drive burns out, u still can play your games and choose to replace the HD drive OR
Like the kid said above
Microsoft is MOST LIKELY developing a Blu ray drive for the 360 so you can have a blu ray player in change for the HD drive
btw blu ray games like som1 said all the ps3 games r on blu ray., well
guess what your games = Cost alot more then 360s
and for what? NO GAMES NOW EVEN USE THAT MUCH MEMORY WHAT A WASTE FOR A BLU RAY DISC
No games even USE more then on a regular dual layer DVD games are put on. in short 360 = games cost less, no need for a blu ray drive for like 2-3 years, the whole game console costs less
Internet browser
LOL>>..>>>>>>>>>>>>what are you gona do? go check myspace and write a poem for TOM on ur ps3? roflcopters
only reason ud need a blu ray player and internet browser is if you dont own a computer and use ur console to do everything.
(btw consoles r meant for GAMING NOT FREAKING INTERNET)
and computers have so much more to offer with blu ray.
ok well
Online play.
Xbox clearly wins.
PSN fails miserably
and btw, alot of 360 titles COME WITH FREE 1-2 MONTH TRIALS. if your to cheap to buyy a 60 dollar year membership?
DAM. thats sad.
game titles
360 pwns the ps3 into applepwnsauce
ALOT of exclusives compared to ps3
plus most games the 360 is the platform system and then ported to the ps3.
reliability
ok, the 360 does red ring but
thats for older consoles that Microsoft didnt have a chance to work the bugs out
they have now and any new 360 should be just as reliable as the ps3, if not more.
plus microsoft has bent over, with their pants down, to fix those red rings and everything.

I think it’s really funny to watch all you morons get so heated up over which console is the best. You all take it so personally and the inevitable name-calling eventually takes over from reasoned debate.
I can imagine you all in the pubs.
“Are You calling My X-Box a Poof ???”
“You giving My PS3 Evils ??”
Grow up You bunch of Muppets and accept that each console has it’s good and bad points. If anyone is really concerned about which console plays the best then go down to Toys’ R’ Us and have a play with each console and make your own mind up.

I have nothing agaisnt xbox am a big xbox fan but seriously my 360 turned out to be a piece of shit i had it for about a year and it doesnt work at all anymore and am not about to waste money on fixing it cuz it might just break again so i decided to get me a ps3.
i really dont see a difference in graphics but i think ps3 has more advantages and is a better system considering which one is going to last longer.

Well I favored the ps2 over the xbox, I actually hated the first xbox, only bought a xbox360 to wait for the ps3 to come out, but its been out for awhile but I still dont own one, why? Because I feel like it’s a waste of my money. I buy video games for just that, video games. I dont need a blu wtf ever player or a 50gb disk (how much of that space is being used?) I’m not a micro fan boy, I hate microsoft, but I’ll choose the 360 over the ps3 any day, heck i’d choose the ps2 over the ps3 anyday. All you people talking about gpu this and gpu that and half of you have no clue what any of that stuff is. Some of of you may be children spending parents money so the box with the biggest numbers on teh back you will buy.The library of games is what decides it, 360 pwns ps3. period. maybe later the ps3 will pwn the 360 in game selection, but then i will just buy a ps3 and guess what…i probably wont pay 600 dollars for it lol but for now the 360 is the way to go. I know it kills those lil people that bit sony’s bait and bought that err…game console/blu ray player thingy, btw…i remember before this thing came out sony was like it’s going to anally R*** ( not those exact words lol) the 360…but i guess they lied….again. au revoir!!!

Oh’ yeah, about the low failure rate on PS3 “who cares” said captin betty. I tell you who cares my friend, gamers who don’t want to wait a week because their $350 XBOX 360 died after bill gates released it early to help sale even though it wasn’t ready!!

The ONLY thing that the xbox has that I’m jealous of is the ability to play music during games. And I’m sure that’s coming for the PS3.
The disadvantages of Microsoft’s latest suck-machine far outweigh the benefits. The PS3 is well worth the $400 I paid for it, and the games coming in the future for the PS3 will blow your mind. HD DVD is pitiful, and xbox has already hit its maximum potential, while PS3 has a lot of room to grow.
LittleBigPlanet, God of War 3, MGS4, BoiShock, Ratchet and Clank future… All reasons to buy a PS3. Name one game on the 360 that’s a console-seller. Don’t say Halo. Halo is disgusting.
PSHome is going to be much more able to compete with XBLive than PSN. The online disadvantages of the PS3 are going to become nonexistant.
The 360 can’t get any better. The PS3 can, and will.
And PS3’s don’t RROD! [/overused sony fanboy line, but it's true.]
I have all three consoles. I’m a proud PSWii60 owner. But I can say without a fraction of a doubt that the PS3 is the best and most powerful console of the three. Nothing can compare to the Wii in shear uniqueness and fun, but of the other two, I honestly see no reason to buy a 360 instead of a PS3.
Besides, I hate Bill Gates. He screwed up on Vista, and he screwed up releasing the 360 early. If the RROD fiasco hadn’t happened, the 360 would have soared. But it’s too late now.

All the things that these xbox guys act like they dont care about that the PS3 has. Don’t act like you wouldn’t be all hyped about it if xbox had it. PS3 online is better, ” I could care less” about hearing what the other loser has to say on the other side.

How is this a ps3 fanboy when he talked about both consoles. I guess some ppl just read what they want to. Anyways everything then 360 fans say about the ps3 (little shit) can and probly will be added with a simple update (no ingame music, crossgame chat, etc..). I like the way ppl say taht ps3 games are a watered down version of the 360’s. Thats kinda weird, look at gta4. They had to make the city smaller on the 360! So it sounds like its the other way around with the watered down shit. The thing about 360 games is that they are as good as they are gonna get graphically and size wise. The ps3 games will continue to get better since they have the room to make them bigger and better!

the only reson why you people are hung up on xbox is because its a cheap peice of crap that breaks down constantly and SCRATCHES the disks yes i said it scratches wow ps3 doesnt do that not even one reprot on that was ever filed, oh ya and the sad thing about xbox woops my bad sadder things that everyone only plays it for the halo games and gears of war crap and you know why ps3 is better once again blu-ray it enables larger worlds so when you play 5 or6 levels in xbox with the ps3 its only level one still enabling longer games that take MORE time to beat rather than only a few hours like halo. plus ps3 has better accesories for it suce as the7 player link direct to it unlike the xbox witch only enables 4…… oooo very sad indeedhow pathetic.have any of you ever played a ps2? no thats why you people dont like it because its different oh and ps2 even then still had better graphics than the xbox. oh and does the new xbox controlers have rumble packs nooo noonoo they dont unlike the newer ps3 ones that do wow. hope xbox is shut down one day and the online status is terminated because ps3 will ans the better of both andyou cant proove otherwise so hahahaha….ha!

I have read alot of the comments above and alot ask witch system is better cause they are thinking of buying one .I can’t help but recommend the 360.alot of people seem to say blue ray blue ray blue ray.well i get the high def movies from live ,there cheap and i don’t have to waste time or gas going to the video store to get them.I bet it is expensive to rent a blue ray disk, i know there expensive to buy.so who cares about blue ray.
The other thing i keep reading is that the graphics are better on a ps3 doing a few google searches i have found some side by side stuff that says otherwise ,google it yourself and judge for yourself.
I also keep hearing that the games and online will be better ,when is that going to be? i want to play good stuff now not in 3 years.
playstation home was promised long long ago when i was playing with a psp we are still waiting……
One thing i can’t stand while playing online is glitchers and cheaters the psp has free online gaming i used to love playing socom.but the gliching got so bad it was intolerable to play ,and without the consequence of paying for online gaming i wonder if the cheating will be as bad on the ps3.
i use the chat stuff on live all the time sometimes im having a private chat with a buddy while were both playing different games. i also use the messenger feature on live and would miss not having it .It seems i could spend forever playing demos or watching downloadable content on live and never see it all.and i hear xbox is getting net flix with over 12000 movies i don’t think i will miss blue ray anytime soon.and if sony wants to sell or rent any of those fancy blue ray disks i doubt they will offer online movies so you guys enjoy your trip to the video store.
now i havn’t had much experience on a ps3 but i had a buddy invite me over to play it.the experience was sad.that resistence game sucked and i think he thought so to because he seemed to want to play cod 4.he has a friend in a lower apartment at his house who wanted to play as well with his ps3.i couldnt believe it when they started to yell up and down the stairs to try and and get hooked up.I asked why he just didn’t send messages or chat, he said he couldn’t without exiting the game .lol.on live in game or no not only can i find a friend but tell exactly what game he is playing and even what part of the game he is playing.voice chat or text its up to me.when they eventually got together in a room there they sat waiting to join a game and waiting and waiting .finally the emberassment overwhelmed them the reapeated the whole process again including the yelling up and down the stairs and we got into a game .once we were in they didn’t seem to want to change rooms for fear of the dreaded wait.after a while i noticed the new maps for the game were missing .when i asked i was told that they hadn’t releasaed the maps for the ps3 yet.sooooo sad.
if you know people with a ps3 there probably telling u that the ps3 is a power house super console with fancy techno talk that sony has fed them, but if you want to play and see more grab an xbox its cheaper anyway.i notice the sony fans fill there comments with its going to be better…… or the upcoming games are going to be…..so go ahead and buy one and wait for the new maps and the upcoming this or that i’ll be playing while u wait.

All the Cons you listed for the Playstation 3 are not even cons anymore for PS3. Im Suprised that you made in this in March 2008. It sounds like a review made by someone when PS3 first came out.
I have owned a Playstation 3 for 2 years now and have not had any of the Cons you mentioned.
In the future..we will see the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Network like never before.

Look both have very good points as well as bad,but one thing stands out as far as power of the system.A way back Saddom brought Playstation, not xboxs for cpu power for military applications. You have to look behinds the curtain to see whats not being shown on the surface.Forget all the extra video pixels, shaders blah, blah, blah.Everything will come down to that processor, gpu, and the target goals of the company. In short 360 is built on a 5 year time table, the Ps3 is built on a 10 year.Take in account of Blue-Ray which will get bigger and more widely used, the cost of the new xbox a few years down the road which will cost more that current systems.I like Ps3 only because its not mircosoft.Mircosoft is a money hunger devil that cares not for us but only how to make them rich beyond god, prevent us from downloading crap off the internet that they themselves make it so easy for us to do.You dont hand a 8 year old a gun and then get shocked when he kills someone.BUT….anyway they are both good systems and for all the fanboys out there, give it a F*KING REST.Who is the hottest chick with the best A** and T*ts should be what your fussing about……SHAKRIA!!!
