Top Five Tips For Internet Gaming

Gnomie Willy writes:

Hello Chris,

After seeing countless top five videos I have decided to send you my top five tips for Internet gaming.

  1. One of the biggest misconceptions of Internet gaming is that all the higher levels will not help the “noobs,” however, this is largely untrue. In many cases higher levels will give new players advice on the game — it does not hurt to ask. In all of my gaming experience I do not believe I have ever not tried to help a new player with a question or concern they may have had (within reason), and I do not know of any friends I have that will not try to help to the best of their abilities either. However there is a huge difference between requesting help from a higher player and begging; this is a transition to my second topic.
  2. Begging is a very large issue in MMORPGs. Although many fellow gamers will try to assist in helping answer questions, no one appreciates being begged from. Begging can range from messaging someone of a higher level many times on an issue they cannot or simply do not want to assist with to asking for game currency. Begging will not get you anywhere in the game, so my tip here is to not do it.
  3. My third tip is to network. It is a massively multiplayer online game: meet people, it’s part of the gaming experience. Not only is having friends in the game nice, but it can help a lot.
  4. This is a big tip: You are playing with many people; it’s good form to respect all players and in return you will gain a lot of respect from your fellow players.
  5. My last tip is have fun. I have seen far too many people get too caught up in their game world. Remember: it is a game and only a game.

I hope this helps any new gamers.
