Top 5 Reasons The Xbox 360 Elite Is Better Than The PS3

I am not going to debate which is the better system, but if you want to say that the 360 is so much better than the PS3 you really should give valid reasons.
Number 5, the HD drive costs extra but the PS3 comes with a Blue ray Drive. Which the games can use where the HD drive on the 360 is optional so the games can’t take full advantage of the extra data space.
Number 4, the HDMI cable is a whopping $5
Number 3, the Hard drive is an extra component so the games really can’t take full advantage of it since they have to code to people that don’t have the hard drive. As for $50 cheaper, it isn’t once you and the HD DVD player (it is now more expensive)
Number 2, Awesome games are based entirely on personal preference. Of course the 360 has more games since it has been out of a year longer then the PS3. Odds are the PS3 will catch up and pass the 360 since the ps2 was always way ahead of the xbox. But that is just a time will tell item.
Number 1, Xbox live. I am sure it is better than the PlayStation online, but it had better be since you have to pay a monthly fee, that you don’t with the PS3, again making the 360 MUCH more expensive over time.
Personally I like both systems, but I can’t stand it when someone has to be a fan boy and completely misrepresent the facts. There are arguments in favor of both systems. If you want to promote the 360 then use valid arguments.

I like my elite as well, BUT reason 5 negates the second half of reason 3. A cable for reason 4 is hardly anything worth mentioning. Reason 2 is subjective. But I completely agree with reason 1 and to the first half of reason 3.

i find every single one of these answers to be true statistical facts, except number 5; PS3’s online service is free, while xbox live costs money. Hell, even the steam/EA downloader is free. i cant believe xbox would charge money for things you could otherwise get for free.

How is having an add on better than having a built in Blue Ray drive?

PS3 allows you to use any size hard drive as long as it is a SATA hard drive, Xbox doesn’t allow you to upgrade except to their proprietary sizes.

Finally my closing statement. PS3 has less of a percentage of hardware failure compared to Xbox.

First of all the Ps3 sucks. Second of all I have heard alot of this crap about paying a monthly fee on the xbox. I pay 1 yearly price of 50$ which is not that much. Thirdly The Ps3 games suck. There are no good games on it and the only good games are already on 360 so why not just get a 360. Foruth nobody gives a CRAP about that gay blue-ray. Fifth the Ps3 tryed to copy the xbox live. I have heard alot about this “Ps3 live is free” well thats only half true. For some games you have to pay a seperate monthly fee which is more expensive than the xbox live which is 50$ a YEAR! Xbox rocks Ps3 SUCKS so just get over it and by an xbox.

And another thing, People are saying that the Ps3 is better because you can watch you-tube on it. Well i have a bit of a news flash for you, YOU CAN WATCH MOVIES AND TV SHOWS ON THE XBOX TO!!!!! Theres also a little thing called the marketplace which allows you to get movies, tv shows, arcade games, game demos, trailers, pictures packs, themes, and much more. Not to mention that there is downloadable content for just about every game. So just try to compete with that. The Ps3 is just a piece of crap system that tryed to copy things from all the other systems and failed. I even have examples. They TRIED to copy Live from the xbox, and they copied the motion sensitive controller from the wii and they failed miserablly.

I think the 2 systems ps3 and xbox360 are similar in ways . the problem i have with the ps3 is now you have to install files to the hd to play games ect like devil my cry 4 ! seems silly to my .
next point xbox live gold is not free but i find this great for playing games with people all round the world. ive not heard anything on online playing with the ps3.

Well the Ps3 onlne play will probably suck anyways. It has no good games for online. But your right, the Xbox Live is not free but i pay a small 50$ a year and come on thats not much at all.

Duh! PS3 has Blu-Ray. That fits in 10 more gigs than HD DVD.

So, you spemd that $50 every year on Xbox Live. Plus, you’ll never use 120gb

2: The games are awesome for any model of the Xbox 360. Some great titles are Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Bioshock.

Hdmi on the ps3 is 1.3 which allows for 7.1 audio whereas for xbox it is 1.2 so max 5.1 audio. Hey John it is funny you are tired about xboxlive costing $50 I am tired of people saying the ps3 is so expensive, $50 diff between elite and 80gb and $50 between 40gb and premium. And joel marketplace does have tv shows but once again they are not free.

The funny thing about your downloads is that the arcade cant get them, and the 20gb you can have a max of 3 movies on the hard drive.
4) Upgradable hard drive, I can get a 500gb hard drive install it 5 minutes all for less than $100.
5) Life span. MIcrosoft is notorious for abandoning their products. Need an example how about vista they are already making windows 7, and it has been less than 2 years. I will be surprised if they keep the 360 after 2010. But sony continues to support the ps2 and the ps2 is in its eighth year.
6) Xbox360 only has 3 games coming out this year that will be good Gears 2, fable 2 and ninja gaiden 2. While PS3 has Metal Gear, Haze, Socom, Resistance 2, LBP, GOW 3, GT5 Prologue, killzone2, MOtorstorm2, FF13, etc.

If I may make some counter-arguments toward your list. Let me just say how subjective your argument was - almost entirely. You made some relevant points; but overall, you just rambled on about your personal opinions and tried to pass it as objectional truth. True, this isn’t a master’s thesis for science; but to try and debate with personal opinion is nothing but ridiculous. Also, the stats that you present are extreme and biased. XBOX arcade $280?? I assume this is for every single XBOX arcade title, correct? Well, that figure is completely irrelevant if you are speaking of necessary (or unnecessary) hardware. I’m fairly certain there a very few, if any, XBL users that want, or care to play, all of the arcade titles. I guess that was the only way to raise your price above the price of your PS3. -Notorious? What’s your source? As far as I, and other XBOX owners, am concerned Microsoft has been nothing but understanding and helpful with their products. Seeing as Microsoft has spent over $1 billion on support for the xbox 360 for 2007 alone, it’s hard to believe that they have “abandoned” their product.

-Cheaper as in cost of what? Why include the price of XBL and arcade? Those aren’t required like a HDMI cable. Why don’t you just include the prices of every game available while you’re at it - that would make just as much sense. The power supply issue seems arbitrary to me, but that’s my personal opinion.

First off the ps3 has a built in blu-ray play which destroys the external hd player. Secondly the HDMI cable isnt expensive at all and the cable barely improve the sucky quality of the 360’s graphics. Third the elite’s 120 gb hard drive is external, and you would have to be a no life loser to use all of that memory. I have had my 60 gb ps3 for a year and a half and havent even used 1/4 of its memory. Fourth the fifty dollars cheaper doesnt include the price of the external hd player and the xbox live. With all those things added it make the elite the same price or even more expensive. Fifth halo is mediocre and bioshock is being released for ps3. Now im not saying that the ps3 is better than the 360 im just saying your reasons really suck. I personally think that the systems are equall.

Personally i do not think that the two systems are equal. yes 360 has been out one whole year jonger than ps3, so it is fitting that it has more games. However i do think that ps3 is making a major come-back in the creation of great games.

i think that the 360 gets way to much credit for the things that it does. i mean really i guess that ps3 should ask people to pay for online, completely abandon the idea of blue-ray, have a hideous external hard drive and retarted looking power supply, ps3 should aslo lose the wireless internet and LAN play. maybe ps3 should have all there systems get really fuckin hot and over heat. then we can all send in our ps3s to SoNY so they can take at least 2 months to look at it, tell us that it has the red Ring OF DEath and send us a new one.
Then maybe Sony and Ps3 will get the credit that they deserve. because all these things worked for 360.

OK. time to be serious. i have never had any Problems with my Ps3. but all of my friends that have 360s hav had to send there 360 back to Microsoft because of the Gay Ass Ring of death. microsoft says it only takes about a week and you get your 360 back….. but thats a load of Shit. every one i know said it took at least 1 month.

and the fact that i don’t have to pay for online play kicks ass! i can even get on the real internet with the PS web Browser. that means you tube, google, myspace, face book and what ever i want.

i’m not even gonna talk about how the ps3 has graphics that make the 360’s look like an N64’s. and people say that the 360 has better games. thats the lamest excuse that i have ever heard from anybody about this matter. at leats ps3 owners have a good argument about the whole battle of the systems.

I proudly own both consoles. I recently got an Xbox 360 for free. And i can honestly say its not worth it.

When you buy a PS3, i can plug it in, play for hours, and i can play online wirelessly for free because of the built in wireless.

With Xbox, i have a huge power supply to contend with, and then i can play for a good few hours before the AAA batteries in my controller go flat, so then i have to go and BUY a charge and play kit.(PS3 already has a cable and built in battery in controller)
And then i cant play online wirelessly unless i go BUY a wireless adaptor. So in the end it costs more than a ps3 for less. I havent even mentioned all the features PS3 has compared to Xbox.

Halo 3 owns every game out there.(in my opinion) I don’t think PS3 has any good games going for it exept resistance and metal gear solid. Xbox 360’s live is yes 50$ a year but if you can’t pay that then go sell ur system and all your games and buy so food for your family. PS3’s network is free which is nice at first then you get on and it just down right sad that they even attemted to make live for it. So as you can see I personally like the 360 better. P.S. for everyone who rants on and on about how PS3 is better than 360, you people can’t admit that your purchase of the PS3 was a huge waste of money, so please go sell your PS3’s and buy a 360 or food for your family. Really….no one knows what they are talking about. Read the whole page, all your arguments conflict. Xbox lacks a blu-ray player because it would have been asinine to use one when it was released (who had heard of blu-ray in 2005, don’t lie to be cool either). The HDMI port on the xbox 360 elite (the system this blog is about, in case everyone bitching about it forgot) allows full 1080P. 50 dollars a year is nothing. You can’t really use the “games suck” argument because its subjective, instead say “xbox has a wider selection of games”, because it does. HD-DVD is dead, so you can’t bitch about the HD player costing so much, + blu-ray players are coming down price-wise, alot. Blu-ray stil isn’t even the standard anyway (who can say their DVD collection is available on blu-ray) If you still have rrod issues its because you bought the 1st gen 360 off ebay (like an idiot). Yea, PS3 has a ton of features that the 360 dosen’t have, but I personally won’t buy a video game console to play my blu-ray discs, because then I am chained to the PS3 as a blu-ray player when the next generation of consoles comes out. If you complain about how the graphics suck on one machine r the other, get your eyes checked out because both have awesome graphics. I don’t need a rechargeable remote because I use rechargable batteries in all electronics. Who does not have one electronic device that dosent have a large external power brick? Quit bitching about something that you all have in your house somewhere anyway. I don’t need an SD reader because I have a computer for pictures and what not. alright this is what i say ive researched other sites and some show the xbox 360 has more games sold than ps3 and wii together. ps3s graphics are so good is an excuse to get the ps3 obviously u cant afford the add-ons with the 360 - live, $60 games especially 4.1 million copies of halo 3 sold, and give gears of war 2 alittle bit of time that game will have many million sales im sure of it

the ps3 is soo much better than the xbox it wasnt at first but it is really picking up steam lately and just passed the xbox with online players. When i first bought my ps3 i was like wow why did i buy this thing but now i realized why i did. The graphix are better than the xbox the games selection is growing and getting better, all the xbox has is gears 2 thats it. The ps3 has socom, r2, little big planet, mirrors edge, god of war, and killzone 2 coming out pretty soon. And 1 more thing i prefer over the xbox is the community, the average person owning a ps3 is older than the xbox. I own both systems, and I think the PS3 Is much better. It has a more comfortable controller (xbox controller give me cramps), internal power supply (the one of the xbox look retarded), internal wifi (it would be $100 for an external adapter on xbox), internal blue ray player, internal hard drive, better grphics, its quieter, controller internal rechargeable batteries, other operating system capabilities (like linux etc), connection with PSP and many other features not mentioning the PS3 sexier shiny black finish.
P.S. XBOX live is a ripoff get a PS3 to save money.

You have a Built in blue ray which is better than the hdd Xbox has. There is built in wi-fi so if you have a router and internet your can connect. The Xbox You have to buy an wireless inernet for like $100 If you want wirless. The Internet on Ps3 is free and you can go on any website like facebook ,youtube,myspace,ect. The Ps3 doesnt over heat it has 3 fans to prevent it. The controllers have a built in battery all you have to do is just plug it in with the usb cord and it’ll charge(no wasting money on bateries with the Xbox Controller). Personlity i sometimes just plug my controller into my computer with the usb cable over night then it’ll be charged in the morning (but it only takes like 10 min to full charge). The Ps3 controllers have a motion senser. The Games are just going to chatch up, the Xbox has more games out because its been out about a year longer. The Graphics are better with the 1080pi. The Ps3 is overall better with the built in bluethooth and all the other features with just the console by its self.

2. no halo idc if you dont like it tis the most popular game of all time ( even more so then pong) just get over it and move on.

3. graphics they both support 1080p but 360 has better shading and textures in every multiplatform game.

4. wretched online capabilities. in my opinion the wii has better online functions.

Im sorry, I cant justify buying a system (ps3) when its predecessor (ps2) is superior. Maybe not in terms of hard ware, but we ALL know the ps2 has much better games, and is all around funner to play. The first xbox kinda sucked with the exception of a few games (halo CE, psyconaughts, oddworld, ect) however when xbox live was released it, the xbox started to shine.
Performance: On paper, the PS3 is more powerful. In reality, its quite inferior to the 360. Without getting into too many details, the three general-purpose CPUs the xbox360 has are currently FAR easier to take advantage of than the SPUs on the PS3. I suspect a few years down the road some high budget, first party PS3 exclusive titles will come out that really take advantage of the SPUs and do things the XBOX 360 cant, but I dont think the console is worth buying based on this speculation
In terms of graphics the XBOX 360 is a clear winner. The GPU is more powerful. It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower. Part of the reason is their choice of memory, and architecture of pixel and vertex procesing. I cant get into details but the same vertex shader will run much slower on the PS3 than the XBOX 360. The 360 also has a clever new way rendering high definition anti aliased back buffers. To accomplish the same effect on PS3 is prohibitively expensive. For this reason I think many games will have no choice but to run in non-HD resolutions on the PS3 version, use a lower quality anti aliasing technique, or do back buffer upscaling. The end result in all cases is going to be noticeably worse image quality.
