Namco Bandai sent out a fact sheet today detailing one of the online aspects pertaining to their upcoming Xbox 360 title “Beautiful Katamari,” which will be released on Oct. 15. The new online mode will be known as “Thingy Battle” and is part of the Katamari VS. Xbox Live experience. Live subscribers battle it out in 4-player challenge where the object of the game is to collect as many items as possible to earn the respect of the King of all Cosmos.

Here’s a cut from the official press release:

“The player with the most items collected at the end of the time limit will win the session and the love of the King. With five different online stages that vary in space and time, the fun and addicting online VS mode will have Katamari fans hooked.“

Namco also revealed an online leader board where gamers across the globe can be ranked in accordance to the number of presents and cousins collected in the single player game. The leader boards will also showcase individual scores for the online VS mode. And there’s more:

“Keeping in line with the quirky theme, the game also includes a planet called ‘Everyone’s Katamari’ that shows the combined size of everyone’s Katamari by a cow grazing in a field. The more the world rolls up, the larger the cow becomes!“

The game will also feature a unique menu system dubbed “Princedom” where gamers from level to level, change options, view cut-scenes, switch characters, and participate in jukebox sessions.

And finally, HD gamers will pleased to know that the latest Katamari Damacy will be playable at 720p. A demo of the game is currently available for download on Xbox Live.
