Future Announces The 25th Annual Golden Joystick Awards

Future, the UK’s leading video games media publisher, is delighted to announce that the 25th Annual Golden Joystick Awards will take place on Friday, 26th October.

Celebrating excellence in video gaming across the board, the Golden Joysticks are the longest-established video games awards in the world and the only UK awards voted for by those who matter most - gamers themselves! With last year’s event registering more than half a million votes, the race is on to reach one million votes in this very special 25th anniversary year.

The Golden Joystick Awards were first held in 1982 when Atari, Commodore and Spectrum ruled the Earth, and a huge gorilla called Donkey Kong terrorised arcades up and down the country. And unlike other games award ceremonies where winners are chosen by a panel of industry bigwigs, winners of a Golden Joystick are receiving recognition from the great games-playing public.

With the full award line-up for 2007, voting details and the star presenter to be announced in the coming weeks, the Golden Joystick Award partners; The Sun, Nuts, Bliss and BBC 1Xtra are back on board for this year’s event.

The final results of this year’s Golden Joystick Awards will be announced at the now infamous awards ceremony, held at London’s Park Lane Hilton on Friday, 26th October. Once again, the event will be broadcast live on the CVG Web site.
