Road Trip

Hop in the van, kids, we’re going on a Road Trip. And buckle up. This isn’t a nonstop, unending blacktop expanse of back-seat boredom. Oh, no. This is a butt-bouncing spin in a souped-up vehicle that can fly and swim as easily as it rolls.

In Road Trip, your goal is to see how quickly you can reach the end of your road trip. If you’re fast enough, you will be counted among the really fast on the leader board. Thwarting your goal of getting the fastest speed so your name will appear on a high scoreboard is an astonishing amount of traffic jam. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes are inconveniently scattered across your path to victory. It’s as if they are intentionally trying to get in your way. Lucky for you that you’re driving the Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang of vans. The spacebar will activate its special moves, which will help you in and out of tight situations. There are also magically floating gas cans and spherical power-ups to replenish any low power bars.

To steer your super-van, use the arrow keys. If you need to make an extra sharp turn, the shift key will accommodate you nicely.

Road Trip is friendly to the eye. Some fine graphics adorn this game, though the gameplay could be better. On the plus side, Road Trip is like taking James Bond’s car for a spin. On the minus side it’s like driving it at five miles an hour. This game lacks in excitement; its action is tempered by the fact that there really isn’t any. This isn’t to say that Road Trip isn’t challenging. If your goal IS to get on the high scoreboard, then you’re going to have to practice. Maybe a lot. However, if you’re looking for a Spy Hunter-like game full of screeching tires and deadly crashes, you’re not going to find it here.
