We used to think that we were computer geeks. But now that we’ve played today’s featured game we’re feeling pretty cool. We might even go outside later and share our newfound coolness with others. After we watch a few of our “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” DVDs, of course.

Today’s featured game will get your pulse racing without running up and down the stairs. The game is Downhill Duel, an intense and frantic bicycle race to the bottom of an obstacle strewn course. The object of this game, just like most other racing games, is to reach the finish line first.

You control your two-wheeler with the arrow keys. The space bar is there in case you feel the need to hop your cycle over something. Collect “Fat Face” logos for tricks or to build up a boost.

This is a fast game for bold players who aren’t afraid to skin a 3D character’s whole body. The world around you will become a long smear of missed detail and missed turns. Although this is a great game overall, the low camera in Downhill Duel makes it nearly impossible to see where you’re going. We spent much of the game slamming into fences because we couldn’t see them coming. On the plus side, the opponents are pretty easy to beat. Perhaps too easy.
