We’ve had the nagging feeling that they’d be back and here they are. Another swarm of invaders come to plague the world. Well, it’s time to get to work squashing these otherworldly irritants.
Today’s game was inspired by the classic arcade game Astrosmash. That’s a nice way of saying that AstroFlash is a copy of Astrosmash. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Well. Other than a little plagiarizing there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s still a fun arcade game.
In this game you slide horizontally across a rail blasting enemies and collecting power-ups. Waves of enemies will show no leniency as they attempt to slam their rectangular jumbles into you. Your vehicle, fortunately, is armed with deadly rectangle launching cannons that will make short work of any enemies they hit. Collect the power-ups for more powerful, or at least different, cannons. Power-ups have a slight white glow around them.
You control your ship with the right and left arrow keys. Keep in mind that the screen wraps around. Your gun will fire on its own.
AstroFlash is a simple to play classic that will appeal to old gaming fogies who remember the fun they had playing with rectangles way back when. Younger players will appreciate how well these kinds of games seem to age, their ability to entertain continuing intact.
