We Need To Prove Them Wrong!

As one of the finalists you are dissecting, I thought it only fair to have my say.

Yes I play with computers, yes I have always played with computers, and yes, I’m not ugly with three-inch thick glasses.

Why is it hard to believe that girls play with computers?

I saw on one forum they were even trying to say that I must be lying, as girls who look like me don’t play. And for the record, I’m not a glamour model as falsely stated on said forum.

When I was little, like not even in school, my cousins and I would all play the Commodore 64; then, a few years later, I got a Sinclair Spectrum. Then gaming changed and Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Master System were born. This meant no more hours of loading game tapes on the computer - now you pushed in games and they played. Well, sort of.

A few years later I got a Sega Mega Drive, which soon had a partner, Mega CD, which I didn’t get. I got a Mega CD II, which was much cuter. Oh, have I missed my Game Boys. My first one of these was from the States as I wanted it so bad that I got it on import - I must have been about ten at the time. Then came my Sega Game Gear, which seemed light years ahead of the Game Boy and inspired my love of all thing Sega. With the colour, the large screen, and the MS games converter, I found love, and my Game Boy - even my Super Mario Land - were soon forgotten for Sonic.

As soon as I saw the Saturn, I demanded one from my lovely father who gave me all of my consoles my whole life (yeah, I was spoilt). This saved all of the money I was wasting at the arcade on Daytona, as now I could play it at home.

As I look at all I’ve written, I see it’s taking too long to get to the point, so I’ll wrap it up! I have owned all the Nintendo, Sega, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles - even the different colours of the same models! I don’t have a PSP, though that will soon be fixed.

So, yes, I do game - and I’ll bet I’ve owned more computers than a lot of the people trying to say I don’t even play! That is why this gamer girl contest is a good thing as we still live in a sexist world where men think girls can’t play computer games; we need to prove them wrong!
