New Web Site Features Casual Games But Skips The Usual Runaround

Two Bit Arcade today announced the launch of a new Web site featuring a unique service in the casual games market. Rather than relying on advertising revenue like most game sites, it has developed a market based system where visitors purchase and redeem tokens to play games. Two Bit Arcade is putting the power to choose to support games back where it belongs: in the hands of players.

By choosing not to include ads, Two Bit Arcade is free to focus on games. “I wanted to design the game site that I would use if it existed,” said founder Scott Fadick, “and now it does. It’s an old idea that just hasn’t been applied online yet.” As a game programmer working on Web games, he was frustrated at the direction online game sites have taken, “It’s all about putting as many ads in front of a visitor as possible. The games have become just an excuse to get a set of eyes to a page. I wanted to do something about that.”

Because it is not dependent on advertising, there are no underhanded tricks to get extra page views or clickthroughs on TwoBitArcade.com. It also makes every attempt to limit the amount of personal information it collects. Two Bit Arcade is dedicated to taking the hassles out of playing online games by providing a safe source for online fun.

Two Bit Arcade launched with two titles in place and more in development. It is also actively seeking partners in the Web game development community.
