Umbra And Other Unique Quests From Oblivion

I have composed a list of unique quests that I have completed during my time on Oblivion. There are a few spoilers so read with caution. When more unique quests are available I will update in another article. Thanks for reading!

A Brush of Death
This is one of the most unique quests I have encountered in Oblivion. I don’t want to ruin the ruin the quest so I will just give the starting point. The quest is named “A Brush of Death.” First visit the city of Cheydinhal and talk to a lady named Tivela Lythandas. To get to her house enter the west gate and turn right and walk till you get to a large statue; look to the left - her house is the first one on the right. She will tell you that her husband has disappeared and the last time she saw him he was painting in his room. When you open the door the quest will begin.

Umbra Sword
The Umbra sword is one of the best swords in the game. It’s very easy to get to, but the woman holding the sword is another problem. Head southwest of Imperial city to a dungeon named Vindasel. There are not that many dangers in the dungeon - mostly rats and very simple traps to slow your progress. A woman holds the Umbra and she is very tough to stop, but you will have to attack her because she will not attack you. Personally I could not take any damage off of her (level 9). The only way I could defeat her was to slide the difficulty bar down to easy. She will drop the Umbra sword and (at my level) Ebony armor. There is also a rumor that she will drop glass armor at the lower levels. Getting this sword early will save you a lot of time leveling up your character.

Treasure: Umbra Sword
Ebony or Glass Armor

Lifting the Vale
I was walking around the town of Bruma and a man named Tolgan walked up and told me Lady Carvain was looking for someone to complete a quest for her. That’s how I started the quest, but you may be able to just talk to her in the castle of Bruma to start it. The castle is on the north side of the city. In the quest “Lifting the Vale,” Lady Carvain is in search of the Dracion Madstone. She says that a group of soldiers went looking for it and never returned. She’ll give you a couple of clues to help you on your quest. The first clue is a diagram that leads you to Pale Pass. The second clue is a translation of an Adair diary. If you read though the diary it first mentions Dragon Claw Rock. Head north on the eastern road until it dead ends and there is Dragon Claw Rock. The next landmark is the sentinel. Head due west and you run right into a huge statue. The sentinel is facing due north; walk in the direction the statue is facing. The legend says it faces that way to say it has its eye on anyone trying to cross over the northern border. The Serpent’s Trail leads to Pale Pass and then to the Akaviri Fort. On your way to the Fort you will encounter several Pale Pass trolls. These guys are big and slow. I hit them and back off (stick and move method). Once you make your way though the Fort you will encounter many other Pale Pass trolls. You must kill the commander of Akaviri Fort. Once you have killed the commander, the door directly behind him will open to reveal the Dracion Madstone.

Treasures: Grand Soul Gem
Grand Ring of Ageis: shield self 18% (not sure if this is random)
Ring of the ViperEye: resist magic 10%

you dont get glass armor at lower lvl’s. its just ebony armor but still is well worth going there. well at any lvl its worth going there umbra in my opinion is the best swoard only because its the best sword iv come across

the great gate is hard, but all you have to do is get half way up the left tower. Exit it and you will come across a broken bridge, save the game then try to jump it (if fails reload) then go to the left tower and there should be a lever on the top floor, activate it then exit the tower and the center war gate should be open. If you dont want to kill the enemy sprint to the top while toping up your health, once you’ve found your way to the great signal stone and hold block. When the gate is destroyed another two signal stones will be on the floor. Take a deadric long sword and equip it with any signal stone and then you can use to help you kill the Umbra women.

Copy Cat i have seen these same quests on a orgianl site adn you have just copied and pasted

Well i got to the end of the Lifting The Vale ( the part were you kill that commander guy) and then the door did not open!! is this wierd?? im stuck now and this game is taking me well over 70 hours of playing to complete! THIS GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FINISH!

you don’t have to kill the commander. If you give him the message the skeleton was holding he just leaves and the door opens

I have another good sword better than umbras sword it started out has a claymore and i added the sigius stone to it (obtainable in other oblivion gates

Ok, am wondering if killing Umbra is a quest or if getting the Umbra Sword is a quest? I just killed her and got her sword, And all of her armor, She didnt have any glass armor and im level 24. And I think that if someone just standing there has some kind of awsome sword it would be a quest.

Brandon:
couldnt you just add a sigius stone to the Umbra and then could it be more powerful than your claymore? I dont know what a sigius stone is or what it does but if you add it to the Umbra would it be better than yours?
My Umbra:
Strength - 93
and if you have a Mind and Body Ring and a
Ring of Eidolon’s Edge on it has the attack power of 25!

there are a lot of unique quests in Oblivion but i wouldnt add Lifting the Vale as one of them seeing how the treasures arn’t all that great.

If you go to Rindar’s Staff’s in the Imperial Market place, There is a staff call apofasis. Buy it and the go to the vindasil. Find umbra and then don’t talk to her but attack her with the staff you just bought. This will kill her in one shot and then you will have the best sword in the game and some of the best looking armour in the game.
