Spotlight on Atari 2600 Portables

You know what? Having a portable Atari 2600 would be pretty sweet considering Atari is just about to become little more than a fond memory. I mean come on people, they practically fathered the entire industry!
Pocket gaming is cool enough, I guess. After all, there are plenty of good games out there for Nintendo GameBoy, Sega Game Gear, SNK NeoGeo Pocket, and even the old Atari Lynx. Still, as nice as they are, sometimes pocket gaming just doesn’t cut it. I doubt I’m alone in wishing that I could take my “real” consoles out for a trip … say, a PSX on a plane, the Saturn in a hotel, my NES on a jog, etc. (NES freaks: before you fire up your email client, yes, we know about that yucky Game Axe.) For me, nothing can replace the fun and immersion of a real sit-down home console. What else can play Symphony of the Night or Mega Man 2? Sure, the dedicated portables can offer approximations, but it’s not quite the same. [Read the rest]
