Writing a review for an Xbox 360 video game that has 22 different characters you can play, seven modes of game-play, and a number of different ways to view your progress through the game must be a very daunting experience. It would seem that the time and care it takes to create a thorough review with quality screenshots and detailed descriptions would be immense - which is exactly why I did not write a review of DOA 4 and, instead, I read a few, including IGN’s review that gave the title a 9.0 out of 10. However, just because I did not write a review doesn’t mean I can’t give a few of my impressions.
I have not had much time to play the game. Maybe because I am so addicted to Call of Duty 2 or maybe because I am still recovering from a New Year’s Eve party, you decide. I can say that the graphics are outstanding. If you like the realism and quality in the Call of Duty 2 and Kameo graphics, you will love what you see in DOA 4. I think I got my butt kicked by each opponent in the story mode the first time I played because I was delayed to react while staring at the great looking scenes. My only gripe, if you can call it that after only playing the game for about 30 minutes, is that I flew through the story mode with my first character easily. I only got beat once or twice by the computer players before I beat them.
The graphics and what look to be many fun ways to run through the game in different modes make me glad I shelled out the bucks for it. I look forward to playing more of this game in the very near future. (Hey, I think I will finish this up and go play it now.) I really can’t get enough of the Xbox 360. I believe Chris Pirillo called it “digital crack,” and I couldn’t agree more. If the graphics and game-play were not addicting enough, Microsoft had to throw in those dang Gamerscore points to add to the addiction. Man, I gotta go play some more!
