Xbox Summit 2005 Recap

Xbox Summit 2005 in Japan has really cranked out the Xbox 360 news.

Let’s recap what we know:

The Xbox 360’s first retail mockup is a simple white and green box that matches the consoles look, and has a rather long slogan: “Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system is you. It’s your future. With the most strong games and the most powerful technology, Xbox 360 puts you at the center of your entertainment experience. With the Xbox 360, you can play the most compelling games, watch DVD movies, and share your digital music, photos, videos, and TV.”

The 360’s contoller was also on display, and it featured a comfortable grip coating on it’s handles as well as on the analog stick and directional pads similar to that found on the GameCube.

The 360’s retail packaging stated that it includes a hard drive, wireless controller, Xbox Live Silver, a headset, and an ethernet cable.

Microsoft showed off other accessories that can be bough seperatley, including wiresless controllers, wired controllers, memory units, rechargeable battery packs, play and charge unit (which lets you recharge your controllers battery while playing on the Xbox 360), quick charge unit (which charges the controller battery quickly), wireless network adapter (which supports 802.11a, b, and g), hard drive (and additional drive which will be availible from Microsoft), remote control, headset, face plaets, VGA HD Cable, Component AV cable, and S-Video AV cable.

A landslide of games were also announced including:

- Ninety Nine Nights, developed by Mizuguchi’s Q Entertainment and Sang Youn Lee’s Phantagram.

- Dead Rising and Resident Evil 5, produced by Capcom.

- Ridge Racer 6 by Namco.

- Winning Eleven (a soccer game), Rumble Roses XX (a female wrestling game), and Pro Yakyuu Spirits were all announced by Konami.

- Tokyo Xtreme Racer by Genki.

- A remake of Tengai Makyou: Jiraiya by Hudson.

- Wrestle Kingdom (a wrestling game based on Japanese wrestlers) by Yuke.

- Chrome Hounds (a mech game) by Sega.

- World Airforce (an air-combat game) by Taito.

- Dynasty Warriors 5 Special Edition (not another one!) by Koei

- Final Fantasy XI (an MMORPG) is in its final stages, and Square Enix is only waiting or the Xbox 360’s release in order to beta test the game.

That’s about it, I think.
