A deal between Sega and San Francisco based developer Secret Level has been announced that will see a recreation of “a classic Sega franchise” for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3.
“The talented design team at Secret Level has demonstrated innovation in game development and has a history of technical achievements that will help Sega reinvigorate a vintage and highly commercial franchise,” said Sega of America president and COO Simon Jeffery. Secret Level president Jeremy Gordon echoed Jeffery’s upbeat attitude. “We are excited to be working with Sega and honored to bring one of their classic franchises to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360,” he said.
But, which franchise will it be? Well, Sega and Secret Level didn’t say, but many people are speculating that it could be Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega’s most prized franchise. Although, historically, Sonic games have been developed by the Sonic Team. It would be a very big step for Sega to hand off that franchise to an outside developer.
