Microsoft and Rare to Release nintendo DS Games

  • No Related Post

Microsoft may be crazy … like a fox. A recent update to their website cme in the form of two job listings for Rare Ltd: they’re developing games for the Nintendo DS. One listing is for a “games programmer” and another for an “experienced 3D artist.”

The first listing is for “EXPERIENCED 3D ARTISTS (NINTENDO DS). Good understanding of 3D packages (preferably Maya), strong modeling and texturing abilities, imagination and motivation are all required from anyone hoping to join our Develop award-nominated team in creating key DS titles.”

The second one is for for “GAMES PROGRAMMERS (NINTENDO DS)” who are “motivated, enthusiastic and skilled in C/C++ to join our dedicated handheld team, recently nominated for a Develop Industry Excellence Award. 3D skills also an advantage in creating high-profile titles for this unique system.”

If Microsoft officially backs the Nintendo DS, it could be very interesting to see the handheld wars really heat up, with Microsoft taking on Sony via a proxy company.
