PC owners will have to wait another year for their Unreal Tournament fix: Unreal Tournament 2007 will be released for the PC in 2006. The successor to the wildly popular Unreal Tournament 2004 will use the much-touted Unreal 3 game engine.
Gamespot is carrying a brief overview over the announcement, and also have a very detailed preview of Unreal Tournament 2007. As with every next-generation game thus far, UT2007 boasts the latest trends: new technology, better graphics, advanced physics, and tons of options for players to configure and modify.
Gamona.de is carrying some spiffy screenshots and pre-rendered drawings of UT 2007.
From a gamer’s point of view, I can’t wait; but, this franchise is starting to become just like every other Midway franchise: overdone. Hopefully UT2007 will introduce some original aspects to the “frag-fest” form of games; otherwise, I fear the UT franchise will go the way of Blitz and Mortal Kombat.
