Well, we have some pre-E3 news out of the Electronic Arts camp, and it concerns Madden NFL 2006. The bulk of the news is that Donovan McNabb will be the new cover athlete for the popular EA franchise (and, if you’re a New York Giants fan, you have to be glowing right now, because of the EA cover art curse). What I found more interesting, however, was the news that EA would be releasing Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance versions of the game simultaneously with the console versions. So, Madden NFL 2006 will be available on the Playstation 2, X-Box, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, and Nintendo DS this August.
GameSpot reports:
Eagles QB named as cover athlete for Madden NFL 06; EA announces the gridiron game will throw bombs on the DS and GBA.
Philly fans finally found some football fortune. After seeing their hopes of a Super Bowl title fall just out of reach for three consecutive years, the City of Brotherly Love can at least take cybersolace in an announcement made by software giant Electronic Arts today. The publisher has chosen Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb as the cover athlete for this year’s edition of the top-selling Madden NFL franchise.
