Tecmo Sues Over Nude Volleyball Hacks

  • No Related Post

Tecmo has taken legal action against users of an Internet message board that distributes hacks for its games. Not surprisingly, the most popular of these is a mod that removes the clothing of players in DOA: Extreme Beach Volleyball. The lawsuit accuses the curators of the message boards, as well as the users in question, of knowingly infringing upon Tecmo’s proprietary software for the games. While neither of the two administrators for the forum have been available for comment, the website in question appears to have been shut down in response to the lawsuit. Tecmo’s parent company was successful in a similar suit last year in Japan, where they sued the distributors of a nude hack for DOA 2, the fighting game on which the volleyball title is based. So there you have it, kids, if you try to take off a video game character’s clothes, you will be publicly ousted via lawsuit and humiliated in front of the world. Let that be a lesson to you.
