Nintendo Profits Fall by 43 Percent

Reuters is reporting that Nintendo’s profits fell by 43 percent due in large part to the declining sales of its GameCube console. Despite the GameCube’s weak sales, Nintendo reported that it will raise the sales forecast for its DS handheld in the year to March by 20 percent to 6 million units.
The Japanese gaming giant also noted that DS software sales were lower than expected. Nintendo attributed the fact to gamers using the pre-installed PictoChat application, and that multiple players were using a single cartridge to play against each other, eliminating the need for each player to purchase their own game.
