Sony PSP TV Tuner

Like the Sony PSP needed more functions. Sony revealed today that they will be releasing an add-on for the PSP that will give the device TV tuner capabilities. According to Voodoo Extreme, the add-on will allow the hand-held to possibly stream television content and film through web servers.

It will be interesting to see how this streaming content will work and what type of content will be available. If this works, the PSP could have a pay-per-view type function where movies could be viewed by a single click of a button. Turns out the Sony PSP will be the ultimate convergence gadget that will put a lot of devices to shame.

Sadly this was never released, but if you have an Xbox 360 and a PSP, the new dashboard update lets you watch .h264 files that are sitting on your PSP. The Xbox 360 makes a great audio/video bridge for your favorite handheld. The only issue is that you can’t watch DRM wrapped files.

I hope SONY didn’t screw up and left old PSP alone.
