The Sims 2 Hacks, Where is the Fun in That?

Something isn’t right in the world of the Sims! It seems that several folks have been working hard, hacking away at the source code of The Sims 2 to create some interesting hacks for the game. Some of them might be interesting, but others just seem to take the fun out of playing the game.
Entire neighborhoods of Sims are being mysteriously graced with eternal youth, while some characters are finding all their needs fulfilled by a single shot of magic espresso. Others no longer need to empty the toilet after potty training their toddler. Some Sims are being abducted by aliens when they glance through their telescope — every time, instead of just occasionally, which is normal.
All this mayhem is the work of a community of experimenters wielding hex editors, custom programs and reverse-engineering skills who began mastering their own Sims 2 worlds immediately after the game’s release last September. The hackers share their weird science with one another through public websites and forums.
You can read the rest of the article by Security Focus to get the rest of the juicy details. From what I have read about these hacks so far, it seems to take the challenge and fun out of the game.
With the first Sims game, the worst seemed to come when folks wanted to remove the blur when the sim changes clothes or takes a bath. Some of these hacks though take out big challenges to the game play, and in a whole ruins the game’s experience.

Hello I would really like a resonse to my question. Is there a hack which gives the vampire sims a choice between embracing or simply feeding on the victim. This being a forced bite, even on an unwilling victim. Also is it possible to have the vampire be unable to eat normal food and so by drinking blood they can raise their hunger need

To be fair, not all hacks are bad. I only have the one hack on my game. It allows an entire fire brigade to arrive, not just one fireman. It calls one fireman for every 8 tiles of fire, it’s quite handy.

I think you’re wrong to say that hacks are wrong. Well, in MY opinion they aren’t. It depends on how you look at it but cheats and hacks are encouraged by the Sims 2 staff. If you visit the website, they give you modding programs, list tutorial websites for hacks, they have the exchange, AND they even list their own list of cheats. So, not to be rude, but I don’t think cheats are ruining the sims 2.

I dont think cheats and hacks are all that horrible, i love them. I have been trying to figure out how to turn a regular sim into a vampire sim, I know one way.. but it is to hard, I would like to find a nice simple way to do it.

Game purists are simply annoying. Play how you like to play it ans stop whining about how others play it. If you have purchased the game, how you play it to enjoy it the most is up to you. It would drive me insane to play a full sim lifetime, they are annoying, stupendously boring creatures, but the building and creating and fun modding makes the game fun FOR ME. Finding new ways to annihilate pathetic families of sims id fun FOR ME. I wouldn’t force my modding on someone who feels they must beat the game in the traditional manner.
Each to his own, but kudos to the EA team who realise there are many ways to enjoy their game.

Yes, I agree some cheats do take fun from the game, i know a cheat called Boolprop testingcheatsenabled true (or false), that really dosn’t take fun from the game, i bet if you tryied it you might like it, it is cool with the spawn and it is kinda cool having the abilty to drag up your mood and skills. It is very nice to have the ability to get promoted each time you go to work, just for the sims that want money or life expirences. I have a question how do you turn your sims into aliens? i know you have to look through a telescope at knight I’ve done that every knight, i also try with out the telescope, i try with high logic skills low logic skills it dosn’t seem to work, in your spare time please please please tell me how please and thank you. remeber coolkidv@yahoo.com

some use them some don`t. You stay on your side of the fence and let them stay on theirs. See no need to get pissy about it and besideds…. maxis and later ea makes the game that way and even encourages experimentation. ARGUE WITH THEM!
