Games Domain is one of the first online publications to get their hands on some exclusive Quake IV screenshots. The site only features two images, but be warned… They’re pretty sweet. Quake IV is being developed by Raven Software under the supervision of series creator id Software.

The folks at Konami have released the first official demo to their survival horror title Silent Hill 4: The Room for the PC. Weighing in at just a-little under 500MB, the demo features a few chilling sequences from this DVD-ROM only title (which is also available on the Xbox and PS2).

CryTek has released 12 official multiplayer maps for its first person shooter Far Cry. The bonus downloadable content features eight Assault levels and four TDM/FFA maps. Head on over to www.crymod.com to start downloading the content.

Microsoft informed us via press release that MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf is now available for purchase at retail. Like its predecessor, the game offers both intense single and multiplayer gameplay. The title retails for $49.99USD and comes with a Teen ESRB rating.

The latest gaming news, really comes as no surprise to me. It seems that the gaming industry itself is looking to break records thanks to the 20-something crowd out there. As many of you undoubtly know, the 20-something crowd makes up a large majority of the video games sales here in the US.

So there is a rummor going around about a Halo 2.5. Apparently, the idea is that this version would be for the HD crowd rather than just another look alike. Sounds great on paper I guess, but is this really where they ought to be dumping that money?

Rumor has it that Microsoft and Halo developer Bungie will be releasing an updated version of Halo 2, dubbed Halo 2.5, on the Xbox 2 upon system launch. According to various online sources, the retooled Halo 2 will feature updated graphics and will support HDTV resolutions.

IGN is one of the first websites to present its review of Microsoft’s upcoming title MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf. Without divulging much, the site gave the game favorable reviews. It also appears that the game will deliver quite the online experience.

Blizzard announced that they will be extending the free World of Warcraft trial-period by one day due to server downtimes that occured on December 22. The company also added that they’re continuing to ramp up server capacity in order unprecedented popularity.

Valve announced on Wednesday that 30,000 Steam accounts were banned from the service after discovering that the users tried to illegally gain access to Valve titles using various fraudulent methods. So far, over 50,000 accounts have been disabled from the service.
