Two things to mention here. One, when did the Gamecube come out with a broadband adapter? And finally two, they have modchips for this system too? Cool! Now Nintendo can start suing people for modding their systems!
Seriously though, according to this article, you can add a modchip to your GC console in order to ‘enhance’ your gaming goodness. Got to be honest though, it does nothing for me personally, but more power to those who want to. :o)
gamecube linux has been around for a while now — but the only way to get it loaded (if you even care, as the console only has a a pretty dorky power pc processor), is to use the gamecube broadband adapter and the phantasy star online software exploit. xbox-scene has a post detailing the first gamecube modchip. its only a proof of concept mod (as to far for xbox-scene to refer to it as a “coding module”) and it only allows the user to load software directly into gamecube from the add-on; there is no bios for the mod-chip to load that would let start another game or piece of software.
