Nintendo DS Launch Day Pictures

Granted, it may have not had the ‘thunder’ that the Halo 2 release had shown, but the Nintendo DS launch did rake in some impressive numbers never the less. Myself personally, I opted to stay clear of the video game scene at the local mall this year.

Any game purchases will have to be done online I’m afraid. Yes, even if I was one of those lucky souls set on buying the DS, I’d still make the purchase online. (Except for my Xbox of course)

This morning at 11am, doors opened at game stores across the country to let the hoards of eager gamers get their hands on two screens of Nintendo goodness for the first time.

I went down to a local mall to see what the mood was, I got to an EBX (It’s like EBgames but with an X) at 10:50 am and there was quite a line, 40 people - not quite a “Halo 2″ line, but above average for a store opening. The line was mostly teens and pre-teens escorted by their money-wielding parents. Many kids were trying to explain to their parents why the system was better than the previous.
