Apparently, Midway announced that they’re working on a new Mortal
Kombat game called Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. In development for
PS2 and Xbox, it individualizes itself because it’s promoted as an
action/adventure (wow, how long has it since you’ve heard that genre?)
instead of a fighter game.
“For the first time ever, Mortal Kombat fanatics will get to
explore all the mythos and rumors of the Mortal Kombat universe from
an entirely new perspective. Action/Adventure fans will be blown away
by the intuitive kombat system, puzzle solving and epic storyline that
can be experienced in either the single player mode or through co-op
play,” said Mortal Kombat creator, Ed Boon.
Hey, wait a minute! What about Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero
that came out for Nintedo 64 and Playstation 2 seven years ago in
1997? Wasn’t that a Mortal Kombat game parting from the generic
fighter to something more of a action/adventure flair?
