The World of Warcraft (WoW) Website has just released news that the North American open beta will soon be starting for this up and coming MMORPG. The news release states:

We are happy to announce that we will soon be accepting applicants for the World of Warcraft® Open Beta Test for North America. The open phase of beta will give people a chance to enter Azeroth and play World of Warcraft before the game is released. More details will become available in the days ahead, so stay tuned.

That’s right, the first one is always free. Get ‘em hooked early! Well, I fear for my social life, folks. The last time I played an MMORPG, I literally disappeared from the face of the Earth. I believe I was mystically transported into a magical land of mouse clicking and eating Cheerios. My awareness of the world around me was reduced to occasionally knowing that I had to pee. Perhaps I’m going to have to avoid WoW, for my own good. Unfortunately, those two sweet words, open beta, are hard to resist… God, help me.
